Dear Expectant Mother,
There are so many things we want you to know about us. We are truly best friends. We are fans of Snoopy and the entire “Peanuts” gang. We enjoy golfing and traveling together. We joke that we may need a ‘Baby on Board’ sign for the golf cart. Our travels often take us to the beach or to visit a sports stadium to follow our favorite team. Andy and his family speak Spanish, and we want our son or daughter to grow up bilingual. We are blessed to experience the traditions of American and Hispanic culture under one roof.
Infertility may have led us down this path, but we have always had a glass half-full outlook. We have been on many adventures throughout our life together, but we consider adoption and parenthood to be our best adventure yet. Wherever your journey leads you, we hope you find comfort in knowing we are ready to share our adventures with your child. We promise to provide a healthy and stable home, financial security, education, opportunities, new experiences, and lots of love as he or she grows, surrounded by friends and family.
You are considering a brave, selfless, and loving choice to put the needs of your child above all else. Thank you for considering us to love, nurture, and support your child. If you choose to take this journey with us, we promise to provide your child with the best life.
We met twenty years ago at college in the Midwest, when we were both student-athletes playing baseball and softball. Kylie grew up in a small, rural town in the Midwest, and Andy was born in El Salvador and moved to California when he was nine years old. We were married in 2006. Kylie works as an HR Director for a general contractor, and Andy works as a Team Logistics Leader for a transportation company. Together, we enjoy traveling, rooting for our favorite professional sports teams, watching movies, outdoor activities, and spending time with family and friends over good food on the grill. Andy is an avid golfer and had the opportunity to play Pebble Beach. He also recently started an annual golf trip with his buddies. Kylie is learning to golf, and she also enjoys cooking, reading, and Pilates.
We live in a three-bedroom townhome that features a finished basement/movie room. It is our first home, and it’s located in a quiet suburb of a metropolitan area on a cul-de-sac. The back of our property has an ample tree line, creating a private space for family barbecues. We are close to several playgrounds and splash pads. Our city offers arts and culture, and together, with family and friends, we’ve been able to enjoy walks in beautiful urban parks, hiking, biking trails, the zoo, professional hockey and baseball, concerts, museums, an amusement park, and much more!
Our Extended Family
We live near Kylie’s family and visit Andy’s family several times every year on the west coast. Holidays are almost always spent with family, and in the summer, we spend time as a family boating on a nearby lake. In fact, our nephew refers to the pontoon as our “family treasure.”
Kylie’s parents are celebrating 50 years of marriage. She has two sisters, and the oldest has two boys while the youngest has a boy and girl. Her parents are retired and are actively involved with their grandchildren. Kylie’s mom, or “Mimi,” is a big help providing emergency childcare and never misses a single one of their activities.
Andy’s family lives in California. We recently attended his sister’s wedding, and he visited for Thanksgiving. His mom is retired but continues working part-time. He has two younger sisters and one younger brother, and between them are six nieces and nephews.
What Led Us To Adoption
We’ve always wanted children, and we’d always assumed we’d have them. In fact, Andy volunteered as a pitching coach for his friend’s youth travel baseball team. Kylie’s father would ask, “Why do you want to sit at a ballpark on the weekend, when you don’t even have kids of your own yet?” Sports is in our blood, and we loved the relationships we built with the kids and their families. These people are still in our lives today. Adoption is part of our journey from infertility, and it is undoubtedly our best adventure yet!
