We are a stable and strong couple who have been together now for over a decade. We were introduced in 2007 through a mutual friend. Mike owns a thriving private accounting practice, while Ben is a real estate agent with a growing business. We own a lovely historic home that we bought in 2013. When we are not working on projects around the house, we enjoy hiking, cooking, gardening, and spending time with family and friends. Thankfully, due to the solid footing of our respective careers, we are blessed with the time off to travel and devote to our interests and hobbies. Most importantly, we are dedicated to building a family and to supporting and nurturing your baby.
Our home was originally built in 1900, and it was recently renovated. We have four bedrooms, two-and-a-half bathrooms, and a large front porch where we spend many evenings relaxing and greeting our neighbors and friends.
Our house sits on an acre of fenced-in land. We have a backyard that leads to a large playground located a block away. We are minutes from the state park and also a large community center with a swimming pool and activities for children. Our hometown is small and close knit. It’s the kind of place where everyone waves when they pass by and everyone knows your name.
We are big animal lovers. For us, a house isn’t a home unless it’s full of four-legged friends. To that end, we have two cuddly dogs, named Maxx and Torque, and three very friendly cats, named Walter, Ash, and Maggie.
Our Extended Family
Our annual family traditions give us wonderful events to look forward to. Ben’s family owns a lake house where we spend our weekends throughout the summer. Family and friends gather there for long weekends, play and relax by the water, sit out at night, watch fireworks, or take a little cruise around the lake at sunset.
At Thanksgiving, we pack up the car and head north to Mike’s sister’s house. Mike and his sister keep a long-held tradition of spending the four or five days before Thanksgiving testing out tons of holiday recipes. Then, on the big day, dozens of family and friends come in from all over to enjoy a big meal, lots of football, and some good old-fashioned family time.
At Christmas, we head to Ben’s parents’ home down south where he grew up. The family has Christmas Eve dinner together, then we camp out by the tree, stuff stockings, and finish wrapping a few last-minute presents. Christmas day is all about opening presents, watching movies as a family on the sofa, having a wonderful Christmas dinner, and then staying up late playing board games and catching up with one another. Traditions are a big part of our lives, and we are eager to share them and create new ones as well.
What Led Us To Adoption
Neither of us can envision our life without a child. A child provides joy and hope. A child provides us with purpose and meaning. We grew up in close-knit families with lots of children around. Having a baby will bring great joy to our family and will provide us with a feeling that can’t be described in words. Family is the main ingredient in our lives and to have a child is a natural extension of how we have always lived our lives. When we revealed to our family our desire to adopt, we were met with enthusiasm, joy, and more support than we could have hoped for. We are looking forward to sharing with you and your baby the extraordinary joy of a tight-knit family.
