Dear Expectant Mother,
ALOHA and MAHALO.This simple phrase conveys a deep and powerful gratitude. We cannot even begin to imagine how difficult this choice must be for you, putting the best interests of a child above all else. You truly are a selfless and courageous person.
“Mahalo”means thank you in the Hawaiian language. We want to begin by thanking you for loving your unborn child so much that you are willing to consider an adoption plan for him or her. “Aloha” means love, and we already so love the child that we are waiting for. We are prepared and committed to give this child all the best life has to offer and have the strength, determination and resources to do so. We will encourage their dreams, let their light shine brightly, and create a life for this child that will be your legacy.
Again, thank you for allowing us this chance to tell you who we are. We know that this is both a challenging and uncertain time and we honor your courage. Rest assured that we respect and value your decisions, and look forward to partnering with you on this journey.
We are ready and waiting with open arms and open hearts to meet you, and to create a future that is full of joy and endless opportunities for your child.
Thank you for considering us!
We met in 2001 while working at a federally qualified health center in Honolulu, Hawaii. We became friends and later partners, finally getting married 15 years later. Carina is a social worker and Ritabelle is a medical doctor specializing in internal medicine and geriatric medicine. In 2014, Ritabelle joined the US Navy Reserves Medical Corp as a Lt. Commander. We are both naturalized USA citizens who appreciate the diversity of cultures.
Our home is filled with positive energy and love. We have two Chihuahua dogs named Brandy and Lani, a parrot named Rainbow and a turtle named Raju. We live in a suburb of Honolulu. We moved into our new home in December 2012. It is a 3 bedroom,2.5 bath home with a yard. This neighborhood is a planned master community and has a golf course, single family homes, playgrounds, schools, swim club, and fitness center. We live on the sunny side of a multicultural diverse island and have neighbors with children and infants of their own. It is a safe and quiet community, and an excellent place to raise a child. Even though we are in the middle of the Pacific Ocean, your child’s future also awaits much travel and adventure.
Our Extended Family
People and relationships are very important to us. We both have many godchildren and love to be the favorite aunts among our nieces and nephews. Carina’s parents are deceased. She has brothers and sisters living in Hawaii. Ritabelle’s parents and siblings are living in Mumbai, India. We enjoy celebrating all holidays, traditional and not so traditional, but we especially love Christmas in Hawaii. Caroling is a family tradition. We cook traditional dishes from the Philippines and India. Special Christmas sweets are made and exchanged with neighbors at this time of year. Each of us sharea love for the arts and international cuisine and looks forward to much travel together as a family.
In Hawaii, there is a word called “hanai” or adopted family. Our close friends have become like family to us. We promise that your child will definitely be surrounded by an extremely loving family, as we have family and good friends with very young children who anxiously await the addition of a new child.
Ohana means family.Family means nobody gets left behind or forgotten.
What Led Us To Adoption
LOVE. We believe that children are our future and wish to leave behind a footprint of our love through the miracle of adoption. When we discovered we were unable to have a child biologically, we knew adoption was the right choice for us. We believe it is providence (divine guidance) that will ultimately determine one’s adoption destiny. Becoming parents has always been number one priority for both of us. We look forward to the experience of parenthood which will enrich our lives and change us forever. We have a lot of love to share and look forward to growing our family!
