Dear Expectant Mother,
Wow - where to start. We can’t even imagine the emotions you’re likely feeling if you’re reading this. You are already strong and brave for even thinking about an adoption plan for your precious child. Because you are reading this, we know you are thinking about doing nothing but the best for your child. The one thing we know is that you can’t control timing. Whether or not you believe in God (we consider ourselves Christian though are open to teachings of all faiths and non-faiths), we think the world works in mysterious ways and that there is something great that comes from every situation, even when at first it might seem otherwise.
For you to even for a moment consider giving us the responsibility to raise your newborn, we are thankful. While we obviously cannot conceive a child on our own, we have put in place the foundation for any child to succeed. We have a stable home with loving family and friends who are willing and able to support us along every step of the way. With Chris as an educator and Jim as a businessperson, we have balance to ensure nurture and needs are readily available.
We know that in time, a match with the right child will happen and we can’t wait to meet him or her. While we hope the expectant mother is you, it is without hesitation that we wish you and your child nothing but the brightest futures.
Although we dated for quite some time, early on it was obvious to us that we were meant for one another. After two years together and a beautiful country wedding, we are ready for the next chapter. We enjoy working in the yard, watching and playing sports, traveling the world, staying at home with our animals, spending time with friends and family, and learning about culture through food and restaurants. Both of our families are actively involved in our lives and are major influences in our decision to build a family. Chris is a high school science teacher who studied Wildlife Science and Biology. After studying business in college, Jim spent much time moving across the country and traveling the world for work. Jim now leads operations for a global manufacturing company. Our love and stability mean we are ready and excited to welcome our first child into our home.
We live in a beautiful and cozy, family-friendly home on an acre of wooded land. After moving here last year, we’ve done lots of work inside and out to prepare this “nest” for our family. With us are three animals. We have a ten-year-old golden retriever who is sweet and loving with children of every age. We also have a three-year-old cat who is as friendly and playful as any cat either of us has ever known. The newest addition, who was brought in to learn from the ten-year-old golden retriever, is a medium-sized, one-year-old rescue who is part Jack Russell and the rest unknown (though something big and loving; perhaps a hound). Our house is full of love, life, laughter, and, yes, vacuuming.
Our Extended Family
Chris’s family is amazing! Most of them are still in the Philadelphia area, though some are also nearby in the south and a couple more in DC. While separated geographically, we get to see them many times per year. Chris has two brothers and a sister as well as many aunts, uncles, cousins, and one living grandparent (who we call Minga - she is 90 and completely welcoming and supportive of our relationship).
Jim’s family is also great - and many of them live nearby. The remainder live in the Cleveland area and, like Chris’s family, we spend a lot of time with Jim’s family. Jim’s parents, grandmother (Grandma Edy, also completely supportive) brother and sister-in-law, aunt and uncle, and cousin and her wife (Lauren and Jen who also adopted with LifeLong!) are all in the same area. We get to see them a lot, which is a blessing. Jim’s sister, brother-in-law, and two nieces live up in Ohio, and we get to see them a few times per year. Jim also has many more aunts, uncles, and cousins, and every last one has supported us in our journey to adopt.
What Led Us To Adoption
We have always wanted to have children, which is one of the many things we found important in our love for each other. We have big supportive families that are starting to have children of their own and we want to create our own memories with our own baby. We have extended family that adopted through LifeLong and it has inspired us even more. As we look ahead into our future we see ourselves sharing our life with a special little one. These memories will include flying around the world to traveling to Pennsylvania or Ohio for the holidays to playing in the backyard with our animals. We are so excited to continue building our family.
