Dear Expectant Mother,
How do you write a love letter to someone you have never met? With warm hearts, we welcome you to take a glimpse into our lives as we take the first step in getting to know each other.
We were blessed in 2017, when our beautiful baby girl came into our lives. Nobody ever truly understands the selflessness, bravery, and depth of the decision that an expectant mother makes until you see it first hand. Rest assured, your child will be joining a very nurturing, solid home, filled with adventure, laughter, and happiness. We live by the mantra, "Magic doesn't happen by Magic” which means that anything worthwhile (a relationship, family, and, hopefully, a child) requires communication, dedication, and, most importantly, unconditional love.
They say it takes a village to raise a child, and we are fortunate to have an extensive range of family and friends where we live. From the mayor to teachers, pastors and doctors, the list of close friends goes on. Both of us were born in North Dakota, and although our travels have taken us all over the world, we always return home for the people and community.
Thank you for taking the time to read our letter to you, and as you make this monumental decision, know that our hearts are with you.
We began our love story when our paths crossed during a business meeting, and it’s been nothing but adventures since. We love spending time at our lake cabin in upstate North Dakota, enjoying game nights with friends, and traveling. Jeremy is a Real Estate Broker/Owner and loves helping people's dreams of homeownership come true. All that motivation takes passion (and caffeine!), and that is where Dan steps in, as the owner of a coffee shop and bakery. Now that our businesses are established, we have more time to spend as a family. We spend days with our daughter, visiting the zoo, having impromptu dance parties in the kitchen, getting muddy in the puddles outside, and snuggling up for a book or movie at night.
With over eight acres, we have room to roam and play for us and our two playful French Bulldogs, Ichabod and Titan. Our custom-built home has two bedrooms, two bathrooms, and four stalls for the garage to support Jeremy’s love of cars. It was actually built as our guest house, and we have plans to build the main house in the near future. We live within walking distance to parks, baseball fields, and a private school. Our lake cabin is located on a beautiful lake that is both in North Dakota and Canada, with wonderful summer time activities like water skiing, miles of trails to hike or bike, and the International Peace Garden and Music Camp.
Our Extended Family
We are lucky enough to have an extremely supportive circle of family and friends. Jeremy's parents live in his childhood home, and most of his brothers, sisters, nieces, and nephews live just a short drive away. Dan’s sisters and extended family are not as close to us physically, but this gives us the chance to travel between his hometown in Montana and to Wisconsin.
When we do something, it is never small, and that especially goes for holidays! We love Halloween, and we always go overboard. On Thanksgiving, we always watch the Macy’s New York Parade in the morning while we prepare the food, although we do plan to attend in person soon. Christmas is always filled with many traditions: on Christmas Eve we hold a family dinner and open one gift, followed by a movie night. On Christmas Day, we rush out to open gifts and spend the day as a family! One of the favorite times of year for everyone is Dan's birthday, which is the 4th of July, and we celebrate with a barbecue and a huge firework show for family, friends, and neighbors.
Our Adoption Story
From the beginning of our journey, we knew we would come to adoption. We both come from amazing parents and families that have shown us the importance of love, acceptance, understanding, and responsibility: life lessons that have allowed us to build a strong relationship, strong careers, and a loving home. With all of these pillars in place, our journey has now brought us to a time in our lives when we can focus our attention and affection on our family.
