Dear Expectant Mother,
First off, we want to say thank you. Thank you for considering us as the future caregivers and family of your baby. It means the world to us and is something we have dreamed of for a very long time. Secondly, we want to say we are proud of you. We are proud that you are making this difficult choice to ensure your child has a great life in a loving home.
We are so excited at the idea of being fathers; we can hardly contain it. We often spend time bouncing name ideas off one another or showing each other ideas for a nursery. This child will be loved with all that we have, and we will work endlessly to ensure they have all they need.
We love to go to Disney World (once we went four times in one year), and we cannot wait to share that experience with a child. We love the magic Disney World holds and can’t even imagine what it is like to see it through a child's eyes for the first time. We are truly blessed with the life we have, and we cannot wait to share it. Neither of us can imagine a life without a child (or two), and we cannot wait for our family to grow.
We both work at the corporate office for a large home improvement retailer. Daniel works as a quoting coordinator for home decor, while Philip works in merchandising for outdoor power equipment. We are each other's best friend and would not want it any other way. We were recently married in January 2019 after being together for over ten years. We met in college in New York State in 2006, started dating in 2008, and decided to move to North Carolina together after graduation in 2011. Moving in together, moving states together, and getting married have all been challenges, but we have overcome them, and they have made our relationship stronger. We love to travel, go sightseeing, and just spending time with one another at home.
We were lucky enough to build our first home. Not many people can say that. We live in a townhome in a quaint suburb of North Carolina. We are only about 30 minutes away if we want to explore the city’s restaurants and many shops. Our neighborhood has a playground, community swimming pool, and bark park for dogs that our little pup just loves! Phoebe is a chihuahua mix, and she has brought such a wonderful energy into our house. She was fostered for her first eight weeks of life, and they had kids in the house. She loves kids! She and our nephew have the sweetest bond, and they are always so excited to see each other.
Our Extended Family
We both come from loving families, but to us, family is more than just blood. We have a great group of friends that we consider family. A few of them have already started the journey of expanding their families, and we have gained some nieces and nephews as a result.
Both of our families are from New York. We are lucky enough to have Philip’s brother, sister-in-law, and nephew about 20 minutes away, and Philip’s dad currently lives in the same neighborhood. Danny comes from a large family, with many having had a hand in raising him. Both of our families cannot wait for us to expand our family and have a child of our own.
When Philip was younger, his family visited the Festival of Lights in Canada, they went to the fair every summer, and all holidays were spent at his grandpa's house having large Italian meals. Daniel also spent all major holidays and even many weeknight dinners at his grandparents’. We cannot wait to continue some of these traditions with our own family.
What Led Us To Adoption
As a same-sex couple, having a child naturally is not an option for us. After we explored our options, we decided adoption was the best fit for us and our family. We have always been each other's family, but we knew something was missing. We adopted a puppy in 2016 because we were looking to expand our family. She has been a wonderful addition to our family, but again, we still know that something is missing, and that is the love of a child.
