We are Frank and Shane and we are very excited that you are taking the time to learn about our journey to adoption. We have been together for six years and married for four years. We enjoy a wonderful life in Washington, DC. Our son, Luca, was born in 2015 and he is simply amazing. Now that he is nearly three-years-old, we would love for him to have a younger brother or sister to complete our family.
Frank grew up in New Jersey, attended college in Pennsylvania, completed medical school in New York, and finished his surgical training in Washington, DC. Shane grew up in Maryland where he attended college and is currently working for the Director of Personnel in a Government Agency. While work is an important aspect of our lives, we have plenty of time to pursue other passions. We both love to cook, exercise, travel, run, read, and watch movies.
We live in a beautiful six-bedroom home in Washington, DC. We do not have any pets at this time but we hope to have a dog in the coming years once our children are a little older. Our home stands on a picturesque, tree-lined street with a park approaching the back of our property. We are fortunate to be a part of a safe community and to share rich relationships with many of our current neighbors, allowing for a quiet, close community feel within the larger city.
Our Extended Family
Our siblings and extended family are very important in our daily lives. We are each the eldest of three children and we are fortunate enough to have Frank’s sister and Shane’s brother living in our neighborhood. Traditions are very important to us. Some of our traditions, like our family vacations, require much planning, while others are much more ordinary. Our families’ blend beautifully together and each year we take at least two large family trips with siblings, parents, spouses, and children. This month we returned from a family trip to Disney World and a cruise to the Caribbean Sea. Additionally, we are very excited for an upcoming trip to Ireland during which we will sightsee around the country at various points of interest. Sunday dinner at our house is another family tradition where you will find Frank in the kitchen making far too much food, while Shane entertains friends and family. Although not as exciting as our family travels, these dinners keep us connected with family no matter what the week may hold.
What Led Us To Adoption
We both come from very close families, and even prior to meeting we each independently hoped to raise children of our own. In 2015, we were fortunate enough to welcome a beautiful son into our lives. Today we hope to have one more child to complete our family. We are both the oldest of three siblings and spend most weekends, holidays, and vacations with family. Our siblings are incredibly important to each of us and we hope that our kids will be able to continue this close connection as they grow. We share a wonderful life and have an infinite amount of love to offer another child.
