Dear Expectant Mother,
We are excited to honor and empower your choice to place your child in an adoptive home. We feel that this special child and the adoption process itself are truly miracles. Several members of our family were also adopted, and we celebrate your strength and courage to make this decision. We feel strongly that if you place your child in our home, he or she will not only have our love and guidance but also mentors who can support your child’s questions about being adopted as he or she grows.
We are both very loving, strong, and supportive women. Our home is full of love, laughter, happiness, joy, respect, and FUN. Our goal as parents is to create an environment where children can grow, realize their hopes and dreams, and become amazing beings. Thank you for considering us to be the lucky ones to raise your child. We truly admire your decision to make an adoption plan for your precious baby.
We met through a mutual friend 12 years ago and have been inseparable ever since. We consider ourselves blessed to not only be married to the love of our life but to our best friend. Amber works for an NGO (non-governmental organization). Her goal is to make a difference in the world. She works daily to empower women, children, and people of color. Heather has been a cosmetologist for 17 years. She prides herself on creating a nurturing and caring environment for her clients. Cooking, laughter, music, enjoying the outdoors, and travel are all a major part of our lives. Fortunately, our schedules allow us to enjoy time together in our recently remodeled family home. We are the fifth generation to live in this home. Amber and her mother were both brought home here as babies, and we are excited to bring our baby home here also.
Our home is a sanctuary for family and friends alike. The kitchen is a gathering place where we enjoy preparing meals and spending quality time together. We also enjoy sitting on the front porch and watching our two small senior dogs and puppy play in the grass. We live close to parks, schools, and swimming pools as well as in an art-influenced neighborhood. And we’re just moments away from museums, a zoo, and an aquarium.
Our Extended Family
Amber comes from a large, close-knit family. They are rooted in the community and are activists for empowering women and children and providing access to education. Holidays are shared with extended family and filled with love, laughter, delicious food, and traditions. Amber is the oldest of four girls. They are a strong unit that supports and empowers each other to grow.
Heather has a close bond with her mom and sister and considers them to be her closest friends. Her mom is a supportive force in helping us to achieve our goals and aspirations. We all love to hang out, cook, and travel together. Heather is also fortunate to have had amazingly supportive grandparents who showed her the value of family, education, hard work, and fun. They adopted Heather’s mom and uncle and taught the family how cherished adopted children are.
Family is our rock. We can rely on them, and they can rely on us. We feel blessed to have the stability of strong family values full of love, wisdom, and open-mindedness.
What Led Us To Adoption
Adoption has always been a dream of ours. We discussed this at the beginning of our relationship as we both knew it would be a long-term goal. We wanted to have one biological child and one adopted child. Despite years of trying, we have been unsuccessful in conceiving a child. We have been dreaming of a child in our hearts and lives daily. We were ecstatic to find an agency that was supportive of same-sex couples and decided this was our next step in achieving our dreams of becoming a family.
