This is a strange letter to write, and one that we are sure is crazy to read. By this point you have likely seen our pictures and read through our summary gaining a slivering glimpse into our lives. You must be overwhelmed at the surreal experience of choosing someone to take care of your most precious gift. Trying to imagine whom you are, where you're at, and when you might enter into our lives is our own fun little mystery.
As for us, we are pretty typical people. With us you are getting a couple that is very devoted to each other, our son and our small four-legged "daughter" (affectionately referred to by my parents as the Granddog). There has never been a question for either of us that we wanted to be dads one day, long before we met each other.
We can guarantee you that your child will be entering a home that will be filled with a whole lot of love, caring, smiles and laughs. We love each other, and you better believe we will fiercely love that little baby.
Cade and Jeff met eight years ago while at a non-profit fundraiser, and haven't looked back since. They quickly discovered a common love for travel, sports, and a desire to have a family. They joked in the early days of dating that they'd end up with rambunctious triplets, so growing their little family has been something they both have been thinking about for a long time. They were married five years ago in Massachusetts, and just under three years later they adopted their son, Riley. As both Jeff and Cade grew up with siblings, it was only a matter of time before they started their next adventure...finding a younger brother or sister for their son, and once again brightening their lives tremendously.
We live in quiet, middle class neighborhood in Colorado. We purchased our home this past winter because it sat in a neighborhood that offers great shops, markets, and restaurants within walking distance. More importantly to us, we are close to an elementary school in the best district in the state, and less than a block from a large park filled with playground equipment and lots of walking paths. Our home has a nice private back yard and is situated on a street with a lot of long term residents.
Our Extended Family
We are a family that really likes to travel, and we are regularly off seeing both family and new destinations. When home we spend time out on our back porch enjoying the great Colorado weather, or working around the house. We've been busy making improvements and updates, and planting lots of flowers and vegetables. We are big volleyball fans and play regularly. Our son has a fascination with trucks, and so we spend a great deal of time pushing those around the house, as well.
We have been lucky enough to have the flexibility in our work to travel quite frequently. While making trips home to Wyoming and Minnesota as much as possible. We both have a love for playing volleyball that keeps us traveling around the country to many tournaments throughout the year. In the past year we have played in Seattle, New York, Washington, D.C. and Boston. In general, we are sports fans and enjoy joining our friends for everything from tennis tournaments to baseball games and a bit of everything in between. This year we were swept up in the craze of the Olympics...something that seems to happen every time they come up. Other than that we are pretty average Americans, I suppose. Our neighborhood has some great places to walk and eat, and we like to try new places as much as possible.
What Led Us To Adoption
Having adopted once, we saw our home swell with love and pride for our fantastic little son. We were so grateful to our birthmother for giving us the opportunity to be parents. Even in the days when we were first dating, we always joked about starting a big family. We would laugh about our pretend triplets and all the fun we’d have with them. As we got a bit older and eventually married, it was always in the background that what used to be something to chuckle about was indeed what we always wanted in the first place. We were so blessed with our son that we want to bring that experience to him with the addition of a brother or sister. Having been surrounded by our growing extended family for so long we want to add more love to our own family.
