Dear Expectant Mother,
We are touched that you would consider us as the adoptive parents for your baby. We can’t adequately thank you, but know that you have our heartfelt gratitude for this selfless act. We know this decision isn’t easy, and we appreciate and admire your bravery.
Tony’s mother also chose to let her son be raised by adoptive parents. She did not have the ability to pick a family, as you do, and it is so special that you have the opportunity to know that you will be deciding who will be protecting and loving your precious child. Tony recently met his half-brother, and the one thing he wanted to impress upon us to communicate to our mother his gratitude in having a wonderful life with the family who adopted him.
We want you to know that your child also has that opportunity with us. We hope to be able to introduce your child to our home and our large extended family. The level of hopefulness, and excitement, and love, and compassion that is being felt from every person we know, in regards to you and your baby, is overwhelming. Your baby will never want for attention, security, happiness, or, most of all, love.
Tony is a restaurant manager, and Jerry is a medical liaison for a group of physicians (which means he can work from home!). We first met in 1995 through mutual friends, which has given us 23 wonderful years together, and we have been married for the last five. We are big movie buffs and read avidly. We have three dogs that we spoil rotten, and we also enjoy growing a small vegetable garden each year. We enjoy spending time with family and friends as often as we can, because we know how important family is and we appreciate them. We enjoy a project and always have several going on around the house, whether it’s painting a piece of furniture or painting an entire room, and we can’t wait for the next project: growing a family.
We have a very comfortable, older home. It has three bedrooms (one of which is currently used as a home office), two baths, a large kitchen/dining room, a living room, and a laundry room. We have a large front porch with porch swing and a great deck out back. We live in a very small town in rural Georgia, forty-five minutes away from Savannah. There is also a very nice water park near our home that is very child-friendly, with lots of areas just for the little ones. Our three very sweet dogs love to run around our backyard and are full of energy and love, and they are very ready to share their yard with a swing set and loads of outdoor toys for the little one.
Our Extended Family
Jerry has a large family, consisting of two moms, two dads, three sisters, two brothers, four nieces, and two nephews; and this doesn’t even begin to encompass the aunts, uncles, and many cousins!
Tony’s family is made of his parents, three brothers, and many nieces and nephews. We all help care for his parents, who live an hour away, and we are all major pet lovers.
We are a tight-knit family, spending each holiday together, as well as birthdays. We also get together for lots of family cookouts, and we have several traditions associated with the Christmas holiday, like making cookies and watching a holiday movie together. Everyone is very eager to have another member of the family to spend time with, and they can’t wait to celebrate life, holidays, and general fun with your baby.
What Led Us To Adoption
We have always wanted to have a family and have considered several options over the years. Jerry is familiar with how special adoption can be to a family, as his father adopted his step-mother’s three children at ages three, five, and ten. Jerry was eight at the time, and his sister was eleven, so they were a blended family right from the start. We started seriously talking about adoption after we were officially married. We have built a wonderful life together and can’t wait to share it with a baby.
