Dear Expectant Mother,
We know your time is valuable and appreciate that you are using it to read our profile. We hope this small depiction of us will encourage you to reach out, and we look forward to the opportunity to help answer any questions you might have about us, of which we’re sure there are many. We respect you, your efforts and your desire to consider us as adoptive parents. We will never comprehend how complicated and difficult this decision truly is, but it is our hope that by learning more about us, you will get to know who we are and come to understand the amount of love we have to share.
As a mature couple, we are now ready to take on the responsibility and joy of parenting. We are in a position to dedicate our lives to the needs of your child through homeschooling, family activities, and a safe, loving home. We will work to be the best role models we can be, and we will always cherish your child and his or her growth. Missy has prepared by trying out all sorts of recipes, Mark needs someone to play games with, and our pets love young children! We especially look forward to discovering exciting activities that your child will interested in.
Thank you again for your time, consideration, and the gift of life you have.
Missy grew up in a single-parent home, obtained a degree in Early Childhood Education, and worked as a preschool teacher before she joined the military. Now retired, Missy enjoys cooking/baking, gardening, snuggling with our dog, and spending quality time with her hubby. Mark grew up in a two-parent home, and, after graduating, he joined the military and met the love of his life. He loves his career but also enjoys playing video games and spending time with his wife and their fur babies. Together, we enjoy traveling the world, sightseeing, exploring the outdoors, going to festivals, or just staying in to watch a movie or play a family game. While we each have unique interests, we find our time most enjoyable as a couple. It’s even better when we can include our animals, and we really look forward to sharing these experiences with a family.
We live in a two-story duplex near Anchorage, with three bedrooms and two-and-a-half baths. The yard is small, but there are several parks, playgrounds, and paved walking paths within walking distance of our home. The one across the street is always filled with children, from infants in strollers up to teenagers. We have an old Labrador mix named Angel, who enjoys going for walks around the neighborhood, tummy scratches, snuggling and long car rides, and we also have two very silly chinchillas named Jewels and Scarlet, who both love to run around and get into mischief. Keeping their curious little minds preoccupied is always interesting and fun!
Our Extended Family
Missy stays in contact with two brothers and a couple of cousins. Sadly, the rest of her family has passed on. Mark is very close with his parents. They stay in contact with both families via phone, email, and the occasional visit. They also stay in touch with his other family via a family text chain, where members share daily thoughts and exciting events. Finally, they have a large extended military family around the world, who they are just as close to.
For Christmas, we go all out – inside, the entire house becomes a winter wonderland. We make large holiday meals to share with family and friends, and we love to mix up our traditions, like making tamales for the holidays! Halloween, we decorate outside more than in and love handing out candy to the children. We also, can’t wait to take your little one out, dressed up as their favorite make-believe character. Finally, birthdays are big deal! While it wasn’t always this way growing up, as adults we look forward to sharing these events with family and friends and, of course, eating lots of cake and ice cream.
What Led Us To Adoption
Adoption has played a huge role in our lives. Missy was adopted by her legal father after her mother remarried, and she considers both her biological and adoptive father her heroes. Mark’s mother was adopted as an infant into a loving family that was the foundation of our love. Together, we see adoption as an opportunity to provide a loving home for the child we are unable to create and so desperately desire. We hope to enjoy and share our love, life, and all we have learned and experience with a child now and throughout its life.
