Dear Expectant Mother,
We cannot even begin to imagine the weight on your heart with your decision to place your little one up for adoption. The two of us want you to know that, from the bottom of our hearts, we are so incredibly grateful that you are giving us the opportunity to love your child as our own. We believe a child should be exposed to tons of love, diversity, and culture while living in a safe environment. We feel we are ready to take on the challenges of fatherhood and are determined to be the best dads ever, thanks to you!
There are so many things we look forward to doing with the little one, from walking along the many bike paths to artistic museums, decorating for holidays, and, our biggest love – introducing him/her to the many amazing animation films from Disney. We promise to not let you down in the caring, nurturing, and upbringing of this precious gift. Rest assured, we will raise this child to know how much you love him or her, and we will always be open to having any form of contact that you desire.
Matt is a vision rehabilitation optometrist, working with visually impaired/legally blind veterans. He also advocates for LGBT Veterans, to ensure they are fairly treated within the VA. Mason is a board-certified music therapist, working with veterans by using music in a rehabilitation approach to accomplish non-music goals through therapeutic intervention. Mason also is an independent singer-songwriter, with four records to his credit in the style of soft rock/operatic pop. We met over ten years ago on Friday the 13th, bonding over our love of food, music, Halloween, and Disney. Over the years, we have become even closer, and we married three years ago, in 2015. We are mindful people, aiming for a healthy lifestyle, and we are also goal-driven individuals that plan for our future and can’t wait to become dads.
We live in a ranch house in the city, with five acres of woods behind our property. We have made this our home, and it comes with a beautifully fenced-in yard with plenty of room for toys. The city put in sidewalks a few years ago, allowing us to take long walks with our dog, who is a two-year-old terrier named Dash, after Disney’s The Incredibles. Our city was also one of the first in the nation to give four years of free college, known as the “Promise,” to invest in its citizens future and help people to make a better community.
Our Extended Family
Halloween is our favorite holiday, and our annual tradition is to host an annual costume party bash, complete with a haunted house! A close circle of friendships has always been important to us, as being around positive people encourages us to be better; we are always inviting our friends and family around so we can spend time with one another. Christmas is also a very special time for us, as we have a tradition with staying with immediate family.
Our favorite person in the world was Matt’s grandmother, whom we lost last year on Halloween, giving the holiday an even deeper meaning for us. It was a very devastating time for us, as she had a heart of gold and supported us like no one else. She turned 90 years young the August before her passing, and we decided to do something special. We reached out to all our friends, family, and complete strangers with the idea of having her receive ninety birthday cards to match her milestone. We ended with over a hundred cards. We also shared a tradition with Grandma, taking her with us to see the newest Disney animated film each year.
What Led Us To Adoption
We have always talked about having children and the possibility of being dads (although we never thought it possible). We looked into the foster system, yet we knew that once we have a child, we would instantly bond. That led us to adoption, which can be equally as hard, but we feel that we can give all we can to allow this child to thrive. We live in an amazing community, and one that offers the possibility of free college education, to further keep all doors open for the little one’s future.
