Dear Expectant Mother,
First of all, I want to thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I can only imagine the worrying, sleepless nights, and stress that you may be experiencing. But I can also imagine the inner courage and strength that you must have to be able to make so many important and challenging decisions for you and your baby. I am amazed by your ability to do hard things and to do what you feel is best.
While adoption has always been something I have considered, that desire has been solidified as I have been working as an elementary school teacher. I have had the opportunity to work with many children who have various backgrounds, strengths, abilities, and personalities. Each of my students are so special to me and I love every single one of them unconditionally. There are days that are amazing and there are days with challenges. But, that love never changes and we learn and grow together. I am so humbled and grateful for the chance to possibly share that love and experience with a child at home.
Family has also played an influential role in my desire to adopt. Even though I am not married, I am surrounded by amazing family members and friends who live nearby. I want you to know that if you decide I am a good match for you and your baby, your child will be surrounded by many people who will encourage, support, and love him or her throughout their life. I would also love for you to continue to be a part of your child's life, if this is something you want as well.
If you feel a connection with me, I hope that you will reach out. I would love to have the chance to talk with you. Thank you for considering me to be such a big part of your life and your child's life. I hope that as you continue forward with your decisions, you will feel a sense of peace, comfort, and joy. All my best wishes to you and your little one.
I am a person who really enjoys the simple and wonderful things life has to offer. My favorite thing to do is to spend time with my family and friends. I really enjoy my job as a 1st grade teacher and I also work as a sign language interpreter on the side. After work you will most likely find me walking my dogs, heading to the rec center, cooking and baking a new healthy recipe, catching up on house projects, and having a movie night at Grandma's house. I'm a kid at heart and I love visiting Disneyland. I'm also a big fan of listening to audiobooks, particularly, Harry Potter. My family and friends would probably describe me as kind-hearted and a “hoot” to be around.
This year, I purchased my first home. I am fortunate enough to share my home with my best friend and her sister and brother-in-law. We have so much fun making dinner, playing games, and watching movies together. We truly have such a great family feeling in our home and we love spending time with each other. We go to Disneyland together almost every year. I have 2 dogs named Hilo and Molly! They are an absolute blast! I have a vegetable garden in the back yard and my roomates and I just planted three fruit trees. My house is set right next to baseball fields, walking trails, and a beautiful river. There are lots of kids out playing around the neighborhood everyday and we are right next to local schools.
My Extended Family
I have a wonderful immediate and extended family. I have a younger brother and sister with whom I have a great relationship with. I also have multiple step-brothers and sisters. It comes to 10 siblings in total! Needless to say, family gatherings get pretty exciting! We love to get together for family dinners, birthday celebrations, and game nights. Our favorite times are when we just sit around talking and laughing together. My parents have been my cheerleaders during my sporting events, graduations, and everything else in-between. Grandparents have also played a very important role in my life and I love keeping in touch with them. I have nieces and nephews who also hold a special place in my heart. Auntie dates have included trips to the rec center, the arcade, and the pumpkin patch.
What Led Me To Adoption
I have always wanted to be a mom. Getting married and having biological children has been what I have always assumed would happen for me. However, my life has taken a different, but wonderful journey. I am not married, but I have had so many amazing experiences regardless. Being an elementary school teacher I have had the opportunity to work with children from all different walks of life who have many different abilities and personalities. I love each and every one of my students as if they were my own children. When they are in my classroom, we are a family. This incredible feeling of love for these kids who aren't biologically my own has led me to adoption. I feel like I am being led to where I need to be and I hope a birth mom and her child will also feel led to me.
