Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you for taking time to learn about us. We don’t know you, but we know that if we are lucky enough to bring your child into our home, we’ll spend the rest of our lives celebrating you while also creating the best, most loving home we possibly can. Our home will be a place in the world for your baby that’s secure, safe, and full of love.
For you to consider adoption for your baby makes you a hero to us. A hero is selfless, strong, and full of courage. Whatever the reason you’re considering adoption, we believe it’s based on love and care. In turn, if you choose us, we’ll ensure that your child is loved and cared for beyond measure.
We thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking time to read our profile and for getting to know us. We love our life together! We have amazing adventures, we’re best friends, and we have a loving, big support system. The song, Better Together, was the first dance at our wedding and it has been the theme of our life together. We yearn to build our family and extend this love, sharing this life we’ve built with another child.
While this is just a brief glimpse into who we are, we cannot wait for you to get to know us more. More importantly, we cannot wait to get to know you, a true hero.
We met online (eHarmony!) in 2006 and were married in 2010. Melissa is a kindergarten teacher and Nick leads a large team of engineers at a tech company in Seattle. Together, we love to travel around the world, take day-trip adventures throughout the Pacific Northwest, practice our photography skills, cook new recipes, and watch new shows from time to time. We adopted our daughter, Charlotte, at birth in 2016, and she is truly a joy! She is smart, spunky and loves to explore and try new things. She is always up for a trip to the park or a walk through the neighborhood.
Seattle is a beautiful city surrounded by water, mountains and, of course, trees! We live in a bustling community with a small town feel. We have a home on one acre surrounded by trees and lots of space for playing and exploring! Our favorite part of our home is our deck where we frequently have dinners as a family. We have a ten-pound Shih-Tzu-Yorkie-mix dog, named Molly. She is full of personality and spunk and is always up for a belly rub or a snuggle. She and Charlotte have become best of friends and can be found chasing each other through the yard most evenings.
Our Extended Family
As a couple, and now as a family, we love trying new things. Our family calls these our “Nick and Melissa Adventures” and they’re always a topic of conversation. We have been very fortunate to have had opportunities to travel to London, Paris, Australia, Italy, Germany, Austria, and all throughout the United States. Some of our favorite adventures are road trips, exploring attractions off the beaten path. When we fly to a new city, we almost always rent a car to explore. In San Antonio, we took a drive to a BBQ joint and to as many old Missions we could find. In Brisbane, Australia, we learned to drive on the wrong side of the road so we could see the Gold Coast. Of our most memorable road trips was along Vancouver Island in British Columbia. We drove up to Tofino, which had some of the most majestic views and scenery either one of us had ever experienced. On the way back, we pulled over, and saw a mama bear and her two baby bear cubs!
What Led Us To Adoption
After several rounds of trying and countless procedures to conceive a child, we were faced with the reality that having a biological child was not how we were meant to build our family. Sharing in the experience with a friend and her husband as they went through the adoption process, we realized this is the step for us in growing our family.
Building a relationship with Charlotte’s birthmother has been such a rewarding experience. We were fortunate and became close with her prior to the birth. But after the birth, it’s been truly magical getting to share Charlotte’s big milestones with her biological family. Technology has made it easy to stay connected even though we are on different sides of the country.
