Michael and I have been sharing our lives for seven years, making the most out of life as we spring from one adventure to the next. Our exploits typically include spending time with our family and friends; taking weekend road trips to the mountains or beach; gathering in our backyard or the house of a family member to enjoy some food and quality time; traveling the world enjoying music, food, and sightseeing. When we are not out exploring in our RV or hosting a barbecue, you will often find us in our garden trying to grow a variety of fruits and vegetables or on the sidelines cheering on our nieces and nephews as they play soccer or lacrosse.
We live in the foothills of Northern California just outside of Sacramento. Our home sits on 3 acres with a large pond at the back of the property. With 3 bedrooms and 2 baths our home has plenty of room to share with our growing family. Our free-range chickens bless us with over a dozen eggs that we share with our neighbors, family and friends. Outside the chicken coop you will find the pasture space that is home to our two sheep, Dolly and Ramsey. Coming into our home you will be greeted by our two Australian Shepherds, Dodger and Scout, who bring smiles to our face every day.
Our Extended Family
We both are lucky to come from large, loving families. Mike is the second of four boys who are all within a couple years of each other. His parents enjoyed a loving, committed marriage of over 50 years together. Michael comes from a family of 6 kids, one sister and 4 brothers. As children our families raised both of us in homes steeped in traditional religious values and traditions; many of which are the foundations on which Michael and I live by in our daily lives. We are blessed to have many nieces and nephews with whom we have been active participants in their upbringing and maturation. We love to spend time with our family playing games, celebrating holidays and milestones or just dropping in to say hi when we find ourselves in the neighborhood. Never a week goes by in which we aren’t enjoying family time together celebrating birthdays, sporting events, and other life events.
Coming from two families who have many rich and varied traditions, it has been fun to create our own shared traditions and memories to carry forward. Our families have helped reassure our decision to adopt is right for us through an unbelievable outpouring of support and celebration with our announcement to pursue this next chapter in building our family.
What Led Us To Adoption
For both of us, growing up in big families, we were each blessed with the love and support of our families. As we face challenges in life we still experience the importance of what it means to be a family. We have a lot more love to give and we wish to build our family. Our desire is to have a child in our family with whom we can create lasting memories, celebrate our family’s traditions, love unconditionally, share our love for life as we support and watch our child grow into an adult.
