Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about us. This is such a difficult decision, and we think you are incredible and brave. If it weren’t for courageous mothers like you, there would be no way for many people to get to be parents. You are giving a gift that is so special.
We are ready to provide a loving, stable, fun home. Through our love for travel and the outdoors, we hope to teach your child how special this world is. We can’t wait to pack them up in little snowsuits for a sledding day, teach them about new foods in different parts of the world, and show them how to roast marshmallows over a campfire. We believe in spending as much time together as possible and encouraging each other to pursue our strengths and keep learning. We are looking forward to finding out what your baby will be good at and enjoy, and we can’t wait to help them grow in those areas.
We are very open and honest, and would be happy to answer any questions you may have about us, or just lend an ear to chat. Thank you for considering us for this precious gift.
We are a fun-loving couple who like to go on adventures. We are passionate about getting out and enjoying our home state, as well as traveling to different countries. Nick works in logistics and supply chain management for a large, non-profit healthcare organization, making sure nurses have the supplies they need to take care of patients. Julia works as a finance executive for a credit union, and through her work embraces the opportunity to help people achieve their financial goals. We are each other’s best friends, and whether it’s backpacking in Thailand or making dinner together at home, we always seem to find something to laugh about or share. As a family, we love to camp, hike, fish and ski as often as possible. We also enjoy home remodeling projects, cooking, and entertaining friends and family.
We love our home: it’s where we invite friends and family to come over and eat, talk, relax, and laugh. We purposely make it cozy with pillows and blankets everywhere, and we always encourage people to bring their kids and dogs. Some of our favorite features are the back deck, where we enjoy coffee in the morning sun, and the elementary school, less than a block away, where we take our dog, Harlow, for family walks. We have a large ‘nook’ off the master bedroom that is perfect for a small nursery, and there is a guest bedroom next door that will make a wonderful kid’s space.
Our Extended Family
We are both very close to our families, and your baby will be the first grandchild on both sides. To say that our families are excited would be such an understatement!
One of our favorite traditions each year is a summer or fall trip to visit to the families. Julia’s family lives in Washington and Nick’s is in Wyoming. Julia’s family loves to visit the pumpkin patches and orchards, and they always plan a day to float a local river. Nick’s entire family has been going on an annual camping trip just outside Yellowstone National Park for over 60 years! It’s a great chance to spend time together, catching fish for the annual camp fry, hiking, and looking for wildlife.
Each Christmas, we travel to see the families again, this time spending more time cooking and baking together, skiing and snowshoeing, and sitting by fires. We cannot wait to buy a baby backpack and start showing your child the world.
What Led Us To Adoption
We somehow always knew that adoption was going to be in our future. Julia started talking to Nick about it six years ago, and was thrilled that he was excited about the idea too. We thought it would be a part of our journey along with a biological child. As the years progressed, we realized that it was probably the only way that we were going to be able to grow our family, and we are so excited to finally make it happen.
