Dear Expectant Mother,
While we haven’t met, you are the person we have been waiting for: the answer to our prayers, our miracle worker. Just considering us to raise your child is truly remarkable. We know that the decision you are making is beyond difficult, and we want to be there to support you and your baby. We are here for both of you.
The picture your child will have of you will always be one of respect, grace, and love. You are the epitome of giving, a goddess, the wonder woman who brought our family together and made it whole. We will ensure that your culture and traditions are weaved into our own and celebrated. We will honor your blessing with the promise that your baby will always be safe and loved every moment of every day throughout his or her life.
We have so many visions of raising your child: building sand castles at the beach, pushing him or her on a swing in the park, reading bedtime stories, swim lessons, finger painting, learning to ride a bike, baking together, Disney World, and birthday parties galore. We can even see the day we leave your baby in their first college dorm as we wait to cry until we get to the car. We have visions of the amazing person your child will grow up to be. None of these visions are possible without one thing: you. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for considering us, and we hope to meet you soon.
Daniel works for the federal government ensuring the safety of employees, properties, and the public. Rebecca is a teacher who works directly supporting students with disabilities. We have been married for seven years and have been building our lives together for over ten. We met while Rebecca was attending UC Berkeley and Daniel was serving in the U.S. Air Force. We are partners in all that we do, building a loving relationship through overcoming obstacles and celebrating triumphs together. Dan is athletic and can make anyone laugh. He is incredibly protective, strong, and caring. Rebecca is compassionate and always puts her loved ones first. She has a quirky sense of humor; loyalty and dedication are pillars of who she is. We love everything outdoors, especially the beach, hiking, taking our dogs to the park, and swimming. Game nights, watching football, traveling, cooking, and date nights are staples for us.
While we love our current home, we are building a brand new home for a fresh start to welcome a child into. We will have a dedicated playroom and a beautiful nursery large enough for a child to grow into. Our lot has a large yard with beautiful views of a nature preserve in the distance. Our new neighborhood has a community pool, miniature golf, a splash park, and a playground. The move will also be great for our “fur babies,” Mako and Belle (our puppies) and Chester and Maverick (our cats). We will be minutes to the beach, restaurants, a movie theater, hiking trails, parks, and highly rated schools. We live a short drive from Florida’s tourist attractions and theme parks.
Our Extended Family
Daniel is the youngest of four boys who share a love of sports and lively competition. His family operates a successful air conditioning business that Dan’s grandfather created. Dan’s parents are the most loving, engaged, and supportive grandparents already to two sets of twins and are excitedly waiting to celebrate another grandbaby. We love barbecuing and spending days around the pool or enjoying the family game room together. A favorite tradition is Christmas stockings filled with Pez dispensers, Legos, G.I. Joes, Reese’s, and Lifesavers. We enjoy trips to Dan’s family home in Hawaii. We will be celebrating Christmas there together this year. Daniel’s family is excited for us to adopt, and our nieces and nephews are ready to welcome a cousin.
Rebecca’s family centers around her aunt and uncle’s home for family gatherings filled with food, laughter, and love. Her cousins are like her sisters and are excited to be aunts. We enjoy trips to Lake Tahoe to spend time hiking, swimming, roasting marshmallows, and cooking family meals. While Daniel’s cousins are mainly male, Rebecca’s are mainly female, centered around amazingly strong, incredibly funny, and immensely loving women. Gatherings are festive, boisterous, and always warm.
What Led Us To Adoption
Adoption will be the greatest gift, joy, and adventure of our lives. We have both always wanted to be parents, and raising a son or daughter will make our happy home and family complete. Rebecca beat breast cancer incredibly young at 27; she faced each step of the journey with faith, positivity, and strength. She came out a warrior and survivor. Daniel is a co-survivor and the lead of “Team Rebecca.” Unfortunately, this has left us unable to have biological children. We fought together and are now looking forward to a bright future raising a child. Adoption means everything to us, and you are the incredible person who can make our dream a reality.
