We would first like to say, thank you for taking an interest in us and our dreams of becoming fathers. It is an odd yet exciting feeling to think that even though we don’t know each other now, we will soon have enormous and positive impacts on each other's lives!
You are a blessing to us and are the answer to our prayers said every night at our dinner table. It is because of you that we will have the best thing that has ever happened to us.
We are so excited to meet you and for you to get to know us! Know that we are here for you and will do anything possible to make you and your baby comfortable and know how valued you both truly are.
We met 11 years ago shortly after Steve moved to the Carolinas to further his career in the financial services industry. Steve has been with a large national bank for over 18 years where he has worked up to Senior Vice President.
Derrek was born and raised in the Carolinas and has been working at his dream job as a school bus driver for 17 years. Ever since he was young, he was fascinated with school buses and enjoys working with the children each day. We were married in the Summer of 2016 and are patiently waiting to make our family complete!
In 2015 we purchased our 5-bedroom house in a kid-friendly neighborhood. Our suburb is 20 minutes from downtown yet far enough away to enjoy the scenic farmland visible from our back porch! Our neighborhood has many young professional families with small children who hold frequent events together, like a community Easter Egg hunt and Halloween parade.
We love taking long walks around the neighborhood either together or with our dogs. We have a miniature pinscher named Jada, a dachshund named Sebastian, AKA “Monkey” and a rescued Beagle mix named Tyson. Our dogs are extremely loveable and playful!
Our Extended Family
We are very family-oriented, and family is a very important part of our lives. Derrek is the oldest of 3 children. He is very close to his younger sisters and his two-year-old niece and newborn baby nephew! Derrek’s family is very supportive, and we are fortunate that his entire family lives a short drive away. Even though Steve’s family is up north, his parents, cousins, and aunts come to visit frequently. Both of us are very close to our mothers and talk to our moms every day. We are blessed to have loving support from both families.
Our Family Traditions
The holidays, especially Christmas, are our favorite time of year! We have a great time finding the perfect gifts for each other, our families, and our friends. We look forward to this time of year when we can also take part of family traditions like going to the Southern Christmas Show, going to the Nutcracker, or celebrating at our families' homes. We also look forward to hosting our annual Thanksgiving dinner in our home!
What Led Us To Adoption
We have been considering adoption for years and have always felt this route was meant for us. It would be a blessing for us to be able to nurture and care for another human being and provide a wonderful home to grow and mature.
We would love to be able to experience the many joys of parenthood and having our house filled with sounds of a child's laughter. There has never been a day in our 11-year relationship that we have not wanted to experience the privilege and blessing that is to be a father!
