Dear Expectant Mother,
We want to start this letter by saying thank you: thank you for looking past the differences and believing we could give your child the best home and life possible. You are giving us the most amazing gift imaginable: a child, and the family we have wanted for so long.
Once we were married, we knew in our hearts that we were meant to adopt. Despite all the possible ways we could have children through medicine, we never pursued any of them. We have always felt as though we are in the best position to welcome a child into our home through adoption.
None of this would be possible without you. We would be unable to have this amazing future, this amazing child and life, without what you are doing for us. We promise you, we will do everything in our power, until our last breath and dime, to give our child the best life possible. We want your child to know they are capable of anything and everything. Every second of our lives leading up to this point has been to prepare us to give a child a loving home, to teach him or her everything we can, and to make them a better version of us. We are so grateful for everything you are doing. We really never will be able to repay you, or express to you how honored we are that you are giving us this gift.
Tara is a pediatric physical therapist and Director of Clinical Services for the therapy clinic. Aubrey is a lead physical therapist at the hospital. We met each other at the start of our physical therapy Ph.D. program, and while we initially started as study buddies, eventually a relationship blossomed and we have been inseparable ever since. Having met in physical therapy school, we both have a desire to help others. We both want to make every person their best version of themselves. This desire and this passion are how we relate, as we also push each other to be our best people.
We live in a beautiful, newly built, stilted house with three bedrooms, a large deck, and an outdoor area that is very child-friendly. We have three loving dogs who are great with children, and we also live very close to the water, which is where we are most weekends.
Our Extended Family
Both of our parents are very excited to spoil their grandchild. We are very close with both sides of our family and enjoy spending time with them. We typically go fishing with Aubrey’s family in the summer at their home, and we go skiing with Tara’s family in the winter.
Aubrey’s mother is a judge in our hometown, and Tara’s father is a successful surgeon in the town she grew up in. Most of our downtime is spent with our family, building memories. We can’t wait to add new memories with our little one.
What Led Us To Adoption
Prior to taking the steps of furthering our relationship with marriage, we both expressed the desire to have children. We had discussed many different options for having a child, but over time we both felt strongly that adoption is the right choice for us. We are both ready to welcome a little one into our family, and we’re so grateful to the birth parent(s) who will give us this opportunity.
