dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We don’t know each other, but we do have something in common. We’re both hoping you find what’s best for you and your child. If it’s me you choose, I promise your child will be raised in a house full of love, laughter, and very off-key singing. They will be taught to love themselves, explore the world around them, and find the adventure in everyday activities. They will be the greatest blessing of my life, and I will never take that for granted. They will grow up understanding that family is who you love, and their family can be whoever they choose to include in it.

Your child will know they come from a brave and thoughtful woman who loved them so much she found them a home with all the personalized attention within a big, loud, close-knit family. They will never doubt they are loved and wanted by more than just me. I hope this thought makes you smile, and that this choice brings you peace and joy. Thank you for considering me as you make this courageous choice. God bless you.

About Me

My friends and family would describe me as positive and supportive. That I’m the person they call for help because I’m always there with one of my “magical” hugs. My family is everything to me, and my friends are very much my family. My parents raised their daughters to work hard, but to make time to appreciate the little things. It’s a lesson I learned well. I work hard at my job as an analyst, and that hard work has earned me the flexibility to take six months of maternity leave. I learned photography at work, which has become one of my favorite hobbies.

I believe life is not just a journey, but a story full of adventures, like finding the adventure in a trip to the grocery store or traveling the world. So far, my story has been full of love, laughter, family, and friendship. I am excited for the next chapter and the ultimate adventure: being a mom.

My Home & Pets

I immediately fell in love with my quiet, family-friendly neighborhood near parks and playgrounds in one of the best school districts. I knew it was right for me and my cat, Millie. I love that I’m just across the river from my parents. My sister agreed because she and her family bought one across the street from me! Her husband has been looking into running strollers and tiny golf clubs so he can share his favorite hobbies. My sister is more excited to plan celebrations, from baptisms to birthdays, although she has talked about borrowing that running stroller for our walks. I’m a handy person, and I’ve been slowly putting my handywoman skills to good use by putting together a nursery with help from friends and family. It’s full of custom features made with love.

My Extended Family

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and I definitely have that. I have a big family that gets together for the holidays to share a dinner full of memories and way too much food. Some family lives nearby, like my sister, parents, and cousin. My sister and grandpa are working toward improving my nonexistent golfing skills, but I just enjoy spending time with them. I also spend a lot of time with my cousin and her family playing board games and puzzles. I have friends, my chosen family, whose kids call me auntie and who just love to include me in play time. My friend swears she can be the one to finally teach me to knit, even though others have tried and failed in this pursuit. Until then, we can agree to just enjoy going to the movies and teaching her son how to bake the cookies we fell in love with on our trip to Finland. She, along with several of my other close friends, share my passion for travel. They invite me on trips with their families, and I plan girls’ weekends for all of us in fun new places we’ve never been but have always wanted to see. This whole village is just so excited to have a new child to cherish.

What Led Me To Adoption

I’ve always known I wanted to be a mom. After spending 11 years building a solid career and a life I’m proud of, I know I’m ready to take the next step toward my ultimate dream. As soon as I made the decision to pursue this dream on my own, my heart knew it was supposed to be through adoption. I’ve never had such a strong feeling I was doing the right thing as when I chose to adopt. Several of my close friends have grown their families through adoption, and I saw what a blessing it was for them. When I shared this decision with those friends and family, their overwhelming love and support assured me I was on the right path. I look forward to this love and support extending to your child.
