our adoption profile

Adam & Shawn

dear expectant mother

We have dreamed of being fathers since we were young. When we finalized Gabriel’s adoption, we knew that we wanted to pursue adoption again in order to add another child. We are excited to look into our child’s eyes and say, “I love you,” to watch them grow, to hear the sound of joyful giggles or of sadness or hunger, to smell the hair of a clean baby and, yes, even the smell of a dirty diaper, and to kiss their forehead each night as we lay them to rest and wait for the next adventures. We are ready for the good and the bad, the happy and the sad, and all things in between.

However, it would not be possible without you, dear expectant mother. While we are excited to add a child to our family, we cannot begin to imagine the strength, bravery, and heartache it has taken for you to get here. You are stronger and more brave than either of us can comprehend. You would be giving us an amazing gift, and we could never thank you enough.

You are special to us as you help us create the family we dream of through your strength and bravery. We hope you find comfort in the fact we are excited to cherish your child with our whole hearts and to give them a life full of joy, happiness, and love.

Thank you for taking the time to look over our profile, and we wish you the best.

You would be giving us a gift we cannot achieve otherwise, and we could never thank you enough.

About Us

We had a small, but beautiful wedding ceremony in November of 2018 after three years of dating. We have a two-year-old son, Gabriel, whom we adopted from the foster care system. Adam grew up in Minnesota, where he learned at a young age, through church, that he wanted to be a teacher. Shawn grew up in Iowa. He knew at a young age that he wanted to work with kids, leading him to work as a before and after school care leader.

Together, the three of us enjoy traveling both near and far, taking our dogs for walks, spending quality time with family and friends, going to the zoo and science center, playing games, baking, swimming, and exploring. We cannot wait to have another child to not only do all of these activities with, but to also teach about the world and to grow alongside them.

Our Home & Pets

We have a beautiful four-bed, two-bath, split-level home with a finished basement, perfect for children to play. We have wonderful neighbors, and there are always children playing outside, riding bikes, and playing at the local playgrounds. We are lucky to have a walking trail behind our house and many child-friendly activities around our community, including pools, parks, arcades, rock climbing, sporting events, farmers markets, zoos, museums, and more. The school district we work in, where your child would attend, is strong in all areas. We also have three dogs: Gigi, a three-year-old standard poodle, Nunzio, a four-year-old miniature poodle, and Murphy, an eight-year-old King Charles spaniel. Our dogs love children and will be excited to share their love with another human!

Our Extended Family

Adam’s family lives in Minnesota, where his dad is a pastor and his mom is a regional director of a nursing home. Adam has one brother and a sister-in-law. Adam’s brother has a four-year-old son, whom we both love. Every Thanksgiving we spend time in Minnesota celebrating. In addition, we make sure to find amazing Black Friday deals! We also enjoy time in Minnesota around Christmas and in the summer.

Shawn’s family lives in Iowa, where his dad is a car salesman and his mom is a before and after school leader, as well as a director of a daycare. Shawn has one sister. We spend time around Thanksgiving and on Christmas with Shawn’s family. We also enjoy Sunday dinner with Shawn’s family.
Together, we adopted Gabriel, a happy, friendly and loving two-year-old from the foster system. We are excited for Gabriel to have a sibling and are preparing Gabriel to not be an only child.

Both of our families are very excited to welcome another baby!

They say it takes a village to raise a child, and we not only have amazing families but the best friends ever. They help make our village extensive and strong.

What Led Us To Adoption

Our first date turned quickly to discussions about children. We knew then we both wanted a family. As our love grew, so did our desire to have children. Shawn’s father was adopted, and Adam’s family had been touched by adoption, so adoption made sense. We adopted Gabriel from the foster system, but knew something was missing; another child to love. We are open to any adoption (open, semi-open, or closed) and look forward to welcoming you and your baby into our family. We dream of reading bedtime stories, bringing our children to their afterschool activities, creating family traditions, playing games, and showing them endless amounts of love, support and joy every step of the way.
