dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We know this decision will not be an easy one, and we acknowledge the sheer magnitude of what is ahead of you. We appreciate the courage, sacrifice, and love for your child that has brought you to making this decision. We want you to know your well-being is as important to us as your child’s, and we will honor however you choose to be in your child’s life.

We will do everything in our power to help your child achieve their dreams and their goals. Their accomplishments will be celebrated, and they will have comfort and encouragement during their disappointments. We want you to know, if you choose us, your child will be safe, cherished, and loved always, and we will inspire your child’s curiosity. Your child’s life will be filled with laughter, and your child will thrive. Your child has a bright and wonderful future ahead of them. We will do everything in our power to support them in all they do. Your consideration of fulfilling our dream of becoming parents is the defining moment of our lives. We will do whatever it takes to make sure you’re comforted and reassured you’ve made a wise choice.

With love and gratitude,
Andrew and Judi

About Us

Andrew has been a video game programmer for 14 years, and Judi is studying to become a clinical mental health counselor. We met online back when there were still chat rooms. We got to talking over the summer of 2003 and became close friends quickly. We both were going to college at the time, and when fall came, we fell in love. We would make the 80-mile trip to see one another on a regular basis until Judi finished college in the spring of 2004. She then made the move to be closer to Andrew. Andrew proposed New Year’s Eve 2004. Right after Andrew finished college in 2006, we got married in a wonderful ceremony. Now we enjoy playing games together, hiking when we can, and spending time with friends, family, and our fantastic dog, Arwen.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a beautiful, 3,000-square-foot home in North Carolina, so we have plenty of room to grow our family. In addition to the typical rooms, it has a nursery, game room, guest room, craft room, and screened-in porch. Our neighborhood has a pool and playground, and we are close to parks, schools, shopping areas, and community activities. We live there with our shih tzu, Arwen, whom we rescued in the fall of 2017 and love dearly.

Our Extended Family

Judi’s family is from Washington, and Andrew’s family lives in Illinois. Between the two of us, we have three brothers, three sisters, 14 nieces and nephews, and five great-nieces and nephews. Judi’s mother lives in retirement in Washington, and Andrew’s father travels between Illinois and his house in Florida, where he likes to go fishing.

We will sometimes visit with one of the families over Christmas or during a planned family trip. At Thanksgiving, Andrew takes off a week of work, and we host family at our house. On Christmas, we put on some holiday music and follow a tradition from Judi’s family of baking a Scandinavian bread called Julekake, which is a sweet bread with candied fruits.

What Led Us To Adoption

From the very beginning of our relationship, we have wanted to be parents. However, we firmly believe having a biological child is not the only way to start a family. Andrew’s father was adopted, and we have an assortment of friends and family who have either adopted or been adopted themselves. Now that we have built a stable, safe, and loving home, we have decided it is time to expand our family, and we have chosen to do so via adoption.
