Caty & Kaitlin

dear expectant mother

Sometimes in life we are lucky enough to meet people who will change our lives forever, and for us, that person is you. We can never truly express how grateful we are to you for considering us for the greatest gift of all, a child to love. We can only imagine how difficult this decision is for you, but what we do know is how brave and loving you must be to do so. What we want you to know most is how much we will love your baby and how he or she will grow and flourish in our home. Your incredible gift will never be forgotten, and we will let your act of selflessness guide us in raising your child.

We can’t wait to teach them how to ride a bike, to be compassionate, and to explore their imagination. We want to show them the excitement of discovering their surroundings and finding their own passions, whatever they may be. We are eager to sit down to dinner and discuss the best and worst thing that happened that day, always highlighting how we can make tomorrow better. At bedtime, we will tuck them in and read a story, like The Giving Tree, before they drift to sleep. You can rest assured we will commit our lives to ensuring your child will always be happy and will thrive. It takes a village to raise a child, and we are overjoyed that we may be a part of your village.

About Us

We like to joke we could be referred to as “Air and Space.” Caty is an air traffic controller who directs flights safely from point A to point B (Air). Kaitlin is an aerospace engineer who works on the life support system for the next crewed mission to the moon (Space). Aside from our love of aviation and aerospace, we enjoy hiking, cooking, watching movies, traveling, and skiing. We met while working at a summer camp in New York in 2012. Kaitlin was the waterfront director, and Caty was a lifeguard. During training, lifeguards were required to swim a mile. While Caty truly believed she was doing just fine, Kaitlin had to stop herself from jumping in after her. We dated for many years before settling down together. Now, after growing our relationship to the solid couple we are today, we are ready to start building our family.

Our Home & Pets

Caty’s favorite place in our home is our library with bookshelves full of children’s books, classics, and non-fiction. Kaitlin loves our mountain-view patio with a firepit for s’mores. Our lovable dogs, Apollo and Maverick, love our backyard, especially the tomato plants! And Callie, our lazy cat, enjoys pretty much anywhere the dogs aren’t. Our whole family loves to play board games and have impromptu dance parties with Caty on music and Kaitlin leading the cupid shuffle. Our two-story, four-bedroom home is in a family-friendly neighborhood where there are two excellent schools around the block, lots of parks, and a rec center with pools and water slides. We can’t wait to bring our child to family fun nights and for bike rides along our neighborhood trails!

Our Extended Family

We are lucky when it comes to family. Ours is loving, supportive, and fun. Caty’s family visits from NY often. Caty has four parents, two sisters, two brothers, and five nieces and nephews. Kaitlin’s family, whom we are blessed to have living so close to us, is made up of her parents, brother, sister, and three nieces.

Every year we host Easter and Thanksgiving, and while it is so much work, getting to spend holidays with our family both far and near will always be worth it. One of our favorite family traditions is Sunday night dinner at Kaitlin’s parents’ home. With the whole family in attendance, we eat well, play games, and watch the kids put on a gymnastics show. Having family so close has been wonderful, and we have family passes to all the best activities, like the aquarium, museums, and zoo. We spend a lot of time as a family going to these fun places, and when Caty’s family comes into town, we love to take them out hiking and exploring. We are so excited about bringing a child into our family, especially Grammy, who is already planning the zoo trips!

What Led Us To Adoption

To us, adoption hasn’t really ever been an if but more of a when. From the beginning of our relationship, we always knew we would adopt. We saw the amazing journey Kaitlin’s cousin experienced adopting her two boys, and we have always wanted to provide a loving, stable, and fun home for a child to grow, learn, and be themselves. So why now? Well, we are both well established in our careers, financially secure, young(ish), and ready to grow our family with love. But more importantly, adopting would mean getting to share our Oreos, experiencing the ups and downs of parenthood, and watching our little one mature and thrive throughout their life! Nothing would mean more to us.
