Family Type: Gay Couple
State we live in: Florida

dear expectant mother

We can never thank you enough for considering us. We cannot fathom the emotions you may be feeling right now. We hope this letter will provide some guidance and clarity about us.

We have discussed time and time again how we would like to begin to grow our family. Adoption always felt right for us. We can assure you your child will be unconditionally loved and will never be left wanting. Your child will be our heart and soul. They will make us whole and will teach us how to sacrifice unselfishly. They will learn about nature, smell and taste different foods, and experience laughs, comfort, support, hugs, snuggles, and kisses. We hope to surround them with art, design, and music every day because that’s what we do in our daily lives. They will also have two strong, amazing grandmothers, one Cuban and one Vietnamese, to instill the importance of maintaining our cultures, work ethic, empathy, and education like they did for us. They will be taught the principles of face-to-face communication, the importance of daily meals around the table, and the virtues and dignity of hard work. Most of all, they’ll enjoy being a CHILD.

This is our first adoption chapter. We hope in the future to write more chapters by expanding our family. We thank you for giving us your time and consideration to learn about our lives, and we hope you find comfort in knowing we promise to welcome your child with open hearts.

About Us

We are an active and adventurous couple that also recognizes the need for rest and reflection. Our weekly routines are typically focused on work and going to the gym. We put importance on communication and always set time aside, especially at meal times, to talk to each other and share our day. We look forward to continuing these traditions as our family grows. We try to plan weekend activities to explore our local community and/or a fun road trip to attractions in our state of Florida, or we visit friends and their children for a backyard BBQ. We enjoy going to plays, shows, museums, picnics in parks, and outdoor festivals. We usually take a few camping trips throughout the year at our local state parks. We’re very fortunate to have careers that allow us to have a great work–life balance.

Our Home & Pets

Our area offers great weather, which promotes outdoor festivals year round and the random “let's go for a walk” atmosphere that’s perfect for taking our little dog, Shorty, exploring. Our home is a cozy single-floor ranch with a large, open communal space with lots of natural sunlight. Our property has a lake view with a large backyard that is fully fenced in. A screened-in covered patio allows us to enjoy the great south Florida weather without the bugs. Besides the dining table, the patio is where we most often find ourselves winding down at the end of the day. Our city is known for its many public parks, A+ charter schools, outdoor festivals, nature trails, museums, and a very popular young art center for children!

Our Extended Family

We use any excuse for a get-together, and what’s better than adding another birthday to the calendar? Our nieces and nephews love helping with baking and decorating their birthday cakes. That way they can add their favorite colors and taste their toppings! Rice Krispies over chocolate cake covered with M&Ms and fresh strawberries? Sure, why not?

Our families are proud of our traditions and would be honored to pass them to the next generation. Multiple turkeys on Thanksgiving because everyone fights over legs, hanging red lucky money envelopes on the yellow blossom tree for Lunar New Year, and baking way too many Christmas cookies are a few of our annual traditions. We look forward to introducing our child to their many aunts, uncles, and cousins who live throughout the country in San Diego, Chicago, and Grand Rapids and exploring the different cuisines, arts/architecture, and cultures those cities have to offer.

What Led Us To Adoption

We had the desire to be parents long before we ever met. We are ready now for the next major and exciting step of growing our family. We are fortunate to have an extensive local support system of our families and friends, stable careers, and a warm home with open hearts to welcome children into our lives. As many of our friends are raising children, we are enjoying our time with our nieces and nephews during get-togethers and/or babysitting. Observing all the pride and joy of our friends when their children master new skills and milestones is very heartwarming. We want to feel that with a child we can love, encourage, and support every day.
