Dear Expectant Mother,
There aren’t enough words to express just how honored and grateful we are that you’ve taken the time to consider our profile. We can’t even imagine how difficult this decision has been for you and are humbled by your strength and selflessness in choosing adoption.
Long before we met, we both knew we wanted to be fathers one day and talked about it often over the years. Because of that, every important decision we have made has been done knowing that one day we would be raising a child. We have built a home based on love and laughter as well as creating a nurturing environment in which your child can grow and flourish. Just as we encourage each other in whatever endeavors we choose, we will also help your child to follow their heart and make decisions. We believe that whether the decision is right or wrong, it will help your child become the person they choose to be. Whether it be down on the floor playing with dolls or cars, donning make-up and dress up clothes for a tea party with stuffed animals, your child will share the love we feel for each other.
We know our profile is just a snapshot of who we are and the kind of home your child would be a part of, but there is so much more. We look forward to speaking with you and having the opportunity to get to know you, and you us. Once again, we are aware this isn’t the easiest of choices to make, but to us, you are both an angel and a hero.
“To put everything we would like to say into so few words is like taking the sun and shrinking it down to the size of a firefly and putting it in a jar.”
Jeremy grew up in North Carolina and has lived in Texas since the birth of his nephew. Dustin grew up in Colorado and moved to Texas while in high school. We both currently work as managers with the same restaurant but different locations and operate a small bakery on the side which is something we are both passionate about. When we are not working, we like to go to the movies, bowling, window shopping or just have fun at an amusement park. When at home we like to play video games, play with our pets, reading or watching a good movie or television show.
Our house is located in a beautiful area ideal for raising a child; not quite in the country and not quite in the city so on a clear night, you can see the stars. Our neighborhood is fairly quiet with lots of children and is located in a top-rated school district. Our neighbors are diverse, open and friendly. We have three playful, energetic dogs, Ponch who is our oldest, Bruce who is a little over one, and Ace who is not quite a year old. We also have one loving and playful cat who we named after one of Dustin’s favorite Star Wars characters, Leia.
Our Extended Family
Both of our families have been very open and supportive of us. We were blessed to have both sides join us at our wedding, which was a little nerve racking as it was also the first time they met. We both come from small untraditional families with Jeremy having two sisters and a brother and Dustin being the only male with three sisters. We have nine nieces and nephews whom we love dearly. Although most of our families live in other states, we talk with them as much as we can and try to see them whenever possible. Dustin’s mom and grandfather live close by so we see them at least once a week and Jeremy’s sister lives about three hours away, and we visit them at least several times a year.
Holidays are a big deal for us especially Halloween, Thanksgiving, and Christmas. Every year we gather with friends and have a pumpkin carving party and participate in the trick-or-treat festivities in the neighborhood. At Thanksgiving, we don’t hold back when it comes to dinner as we make everything from scratch including puréeing pie pumpkins for pumpkin pie and often have our friends and Dustin’s family join us. Christmas starts early for us as we start buying Hallmark ornaments in August and looking forward to going to the tree farm to cut down our tree. We may not get to see all of our extended families on the exact holiday, but we usually have the opportunity to celebrate with Jeremy’s sister as close to Christmas as we can.
What Led Us To Adoption
Before we even met, we knew we wanted to be parents at some point. After Jeremy’s nephew was born Jeremy helped his sister raise him and his niece while their father was serving in the military. Dustin had worked in child care previously, so children have always been an important part of our lives. Over the years we had talked about starting a family of our own and have been encouraged by close friends and family. We began to look into adoption as 2016 came to a close, something inside us told us that the time was right.
