Elizabeth & Muhammad

Family Type: Traditional
State we live in: Washington

dear expectant mother

We cannot imagine how you are feeling right now and what led you to this difficult decision. You must be incredibly courageous and selfless to consider us to care for, love, and nurture your beautiful baby. It is a responsibility we do not take lightly, and we promise to give him or her the best possible home full of family, faith, and laughter. We want to give him or her the sun, moon, and stars!

We both grew up riding horses, caring for pets, traveling the world, working on creative projects with our parents, and being surrounded by large families. We envision welcoming your baby into the fold and raising him or her to be compassionate and empathetic and to live their dreams to the fullest. We promise to provide him or her guidance, love, and opportunity. In fact, it is these core beliefs and desires that led Elizabeth to donate eggs to another family 21 years ago! We believe in miracles, second chances, and the importance of family. We come without judgment—just open arms and open hearts.

We want to give him or her the sun, moon, and stars!

About Us

Neither of us expected to find love at the gym of all places, but we did! We both lead very active, health-conscious lives. We spend time enjoying outdoor activities like walking, biking, and hiking. Elizabeth is very extroverted, and Muhammad is also outgoing but does enjoy his time in his garden tending to his fruit trees. He is very well read and enjoys poetry and books on leadership and history. Elizabeth has a sewing studio, where she makes her own jewelry and designs clothing. We really enjoy traveling together and have visited many places in the last few years like Ukraine, Bahamas, and Bermuda. We were both international students in high school and college. We are a multilingual family and have a very large, diverse group of friends and family members. We have also hosted almost 30 international students from countries like Japan, China, Thailand, Mongolia, Vietnam, and Indonesia.

Our Home & Pets

We have lived in our current home for 12 years and love our area, our neighbors, and the life we have built here in Washington. We are avid pet lovers. We have had birds and dogs, but we prefer cats. We treat them like family members; they are downright spoiled and make us laugh a ton! Mimi and Pepper are sisters who look like twins and love us like crazy. We do not allow them outside because there are surprisingly too many wild animals in our area, like racoons and hawks. The mall is four blocks from our house, so it’s hard to believe we have so much wildlife too! We live in an affluent and international city on the West Coast.

Our Extended Family

Elizabeth grew up in the U.S., and her family is mostly German American. Muhammad’s family all live in Kuwait, with the exception of a couple nieces and nephews who currently study in the U.S. and UK. Since we are Muslim and Elizabeth’s family is Christian (Catholic and Protestant), we have a blend of traditions. We celebrate Islamic holidays like fasting during Ramadan and the two Eid holidays, but we also take part in Thanksgiving with Elizabeth’s family. It’s one of our favorite events of the year.

We have certain traditions we follow that are very Kuwaiti as well, like the foods we make. Elizabeth plans to make an advent calendar for the baby for Ramadan as a family keepsake, which is common to do during the month of December in her immediate family’s home during Christmas, but we want to do that for our month of fasting. We have a very blended family in terms of cultural and religious traditions.

What Led Us To Adoption

Muhammad’s mother fostered children in the ’90s, and it really inspired him to do something similar. It is something we have talked about since we first got married. We almost fostered from Sudan and came close to adopting a Somali American infant from our community, but due to the recession, we were unable to. Over the past 10 years, we have tried to have our own biological children through pretty much every possible avenue. It has been a struggle that has brought us even closer as a couple. Adopting a child is the next evolution in our desire to raise a family. We have had many friends and family members who have adopted children. We know it has its challenges, but we see it as our spiritual duty to help and love others.
