Dear Expectant Mother,
We would like to begin by thanking you for taking the time to consider us as potential parents for your child. We are sure that making this decision is difficult, but we want you to know that you are a true miracle for us. We have dreamed of this day for many years and are so excited about the prospect of expanding our family through adoption.
We promise to provide your child with unconditional love, stability, culture, education, and lots and lots of laughter. We will aim to create a home environment that allows your child to become a child of integrity who navigates the world with confidence and empathy for all. Emily is excited to teach your child to appreciate nature, art, and reading, and Maria can’t wait to teach your child the Greek language and dances from around the world!
Throughout this journey, we will do whatever we can to support and respect you. We want you to play whatever part you desire in order to provide this child with an enriching life. After all, this gift would not be possible if it wasn’t for your courage, selflessness, and bravery. We are committed to this experience and we will always be grateful to and for you.
We both grew up in Wisconsin and met twelve years ago while working in the same school. Our friendship evolved over several years due to our common values and goals, and in 2013, we became a couple. We are now making the final plans for our wedding day in November of this year! Emily has been a teacher for twelve years and currently works at an urban school; Maria spent many years working in schools and is now finishing her graduate degree in Social Work. Together, we co-parent Nora, Emily’s daughter from a previous marriage. Being parents to Nora has taught us how to navigate through challenges and celebrate successes.
We are an active family and promote a healthy lifestyle by working out together, spending time in nature, cooking healthy meals, and enjoying dance parties.
We live in a three-bedroom home located in a historic and diverse suburban neighborhood. Our neighborhood has many young families and is always alive with the sound of children’s play. We live three blocks from a beautiful park that hosts a summer concert series, a weekly farmer’s market, and seasonal festivals. We have three cats: Martin, Duke, and Helio. They are very friendly and love to greet all visitors. We enjoy eating dinner on the patio, swinging in the tree swing, and having bonfires in the backyard. One of our favorite traditions is decorating our home for the Halloween and Christmas neighborhood decorating contests!
Our Extended Family
Family means everything to both of us and is an integral part of our lives. Since much of her family resides in Greece, Maria often traveled as a child with her parents and sister to spend the summers with her extended family in their small Greek mountain village. She has fond memories of helping her grandfather on his farm, picking oregano with her uncle, and sitting in her grandmother’s yard listening to stories. Sharing these experiences with a child is something Maria looks forward to.
Emily grew up in a close-knit family and attests that it is because of the support, love, and encouragement of her family that she is the confident, successful woman she is today. Emily became a mother for the first time in 2011 with the birth of her daughter Nora, and Nora dreams of becoming a big sister and wishes on a star every night that her dream comes true.
We love holidays, and there isn’t a single one that passes that family does not surround us. We especially enjoy hosting Christmas at our house every year, and we, and all members of our family, are thrilled about this very special and important addition to the family!
What Led Us To Adoption
Growing up in close-knit families, we have both aspired to raise children in a supportive and loving home. The desire to adopt was something we have had in common since the day we met. Although this is our first venture into adoption, we have family members who have adopted children, and we have enjoyed being able to witness their incredible journeys. We are blessed to have a caring extended family, a cozy home, a rich cultural background, and a strong involvement in the surrounding community.
