Family Type: Heterosexual Couple
State We live in: Washington

dear expectant mother

Thank you so much for taking the time to learn more about who we are. Truthfully, we do not know all of what you are feeling as you make your decision, but we do know it is not an easy one. We want to offer you the support you need and the comfort of knowing that we, as parents, would do everything we could to ensure your child is someone you could be proud of, and who would be proud of you. We promise to provide them with constant support, relentless encouragement, and unconditional love.

Abby was adopted at birth and her adoptive parents shared her adoption story with her from the moment she was born. Abby has always had deep feelings of gratitude, respect, and admiration for her birthmother and the difficult and loving decision she made. They have a great relationship today.

We have built a family on love, laughter, compassion, adventure, and curiosity. We look forward to sharing the natural world, diverse peoples, different countries, and a fiercely loving community of friends and family with your child. The opportunity to raise another child together and grow our family puts smiles on our faces and butterflies in our stomachs.

We wish you peace and strength, and we’re here for you if you’d like us to be.

About Us

We are Jason and Abby, a loving, joyful, and adventurous couple from Washington. Jason, a music lover from Northern California, works as a Program Director and is very passionate about his role. He spends his days working to protect the rivers and streams in Washington and traveling around the world on vacation. Abby, who enjoys exploring new places and has loved art since she was a child, works as the Head of Content Development for museums around the country. This means she’s gotten to take her artistic gifts and use them to plan and create the exhibits displayed in museums. When we aren’t busy with our fulfilling work, we spend our time on the go! We can often be found outside, hiking, picnicking, biking, kayaking, and traveling. We’re also avid readers, watch lots of movies, and enjoy gardening at our home.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a four-bedroom house in a neighborhood of Seattle. We’ve created a “grandparents space” in our basement, too, so grandma and grandpa can visit as often as they’d like. We share our home with our snuggle-loving dog, Luna and our quirky cat, Zuzu, who likes to block doorways until the toll of a belly rub has been paid.

Our home is situated in a neighborhood full of families. We have more than a dozen children on our block alone. The location of our home also makes our passions convenient for us. We can bike to the beach or library anytime we choose. We are also close enough to walk to grocery stores, book stores, restaurants, and even the zoo.

Our Extended Family

Abby was adopted at birth and has wonderful relationships with both her adoptive parents and biological mother. She also has a sister and a lot of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Many of her relatives live on the East Coast, which is a great reason for her and Jason to visit there often. Most of Jason’s family is located in California. Jason enjoys a close relationship with his mother, father, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. There are plenty of family members waiting for another baby to love!

We go on vacations with family and friends many times a year. Holidays and celebrations in our house are constant. We’ve also put our own spin on some of the more traditional parts of holidays. For instance, for Thanksgiving we wear pajamas all day and build forts with our daughter, Anya… a tradition visiting family also enjoys to take part in! For Christmas, we choose a cause that is important to each person, make a donation on their behalf, and leave the certificate in their stocking. Adding these unique and personal touches to our holidays is one of the things we’re most excited to share with a new baby.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always known adoption would be a part of our family, because it already is. Abby and her sister were both adopted at birth, and Jason has two cousins that were adopted, too. We’ve gotten to witness the beauty of adoption first hand and are grateful for it every day. Not only that, but we’re also no strangers to a blended family: Abby’s daughter, Anya, is Jason’s daughter now, too. We know that it’s not biology that creates a family, but love, and we have so much love to share.
