We met in 2010 as coworkers working at a center for children with autism. Our relationship is grounded in the amazing friendship that we initially made. In 2012 we confessed our true feelings for each other during a trip to Seattle. Since then our relationship has developed into an amazing partnership. We are both passionate about our careers and helping those affected by autism.
Lisa is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst and business owner of a center serving children with autism. Kasey is also in the field of autism treatment, and works as a Speech Language Pathologist. In our free time we enjoy being active outside, spending time with friends and family, and simple evenings at home together.
We live in a sweet home with our four dogs in a great neighborhood. We have many schools, parks, walking trails, and shops within walking distance. Our family-friendly neighborhood is culturally diverse and close-knit. We have four great rescue dogs that love people. Our home includes a fenced in backyard with plenty of room to explore and play.
Our Extended Family
Both of us were blessed with amazing and supportive families. While neither of our parents live in the same state, we continue to be close with them through frequent visits, phone calls, and facetime. Lisa has one sister who is married and they have a son. They recently moved to Arizona. Every week we look forward to a joke-night phone call with Lisa’s nephew. During visits with Lisa’s family we often have fun card nights, large family dinners, and chances to act like kids again at amusement parks. Lisa’s favorite family traditions include celebrating birthdays and holidays with the whole family and playing sports with her dad. While visiting with her parents, Lisa can always be found challenging her dad to a competition in a variety of sports, from basketball to cornhole.
Kasey has an older brother who lives very close to us, and a younger sister who lives in Michigan. We love spending time with her brother and his fiancé’ exploring new restaurants, and enjoying our city. Kasey’s favorite family traditions are holidays and watching football. Her family loves Notre Dame football. On any Saturday in the fall, the whole family can be found cheering on the Fighting Irish all in matching t-shirts.
We have also been blessed with close friends who have surrounded us with love and acceptance. We are lucky to have a number of people we can call on at any time for support. In many ways, our friends have become family to us. We often are hosting friends for a dinner party, kayaking the local rivers, and watching our friend’s little ones. We are lucky to have friends that vary in occupation, age, heritage, and experience. We are always learning and growing from those closest to us.
What Led Us To Adoption
Since the start of our relationship we both have always wanted the opportunity to welcome a child into our family. Adoption was an easy decision for us, and truly felt right in our hearts. We have patiently waited for the time to be right for us to welcome a new life into our family. We are excited for our family to grow through adoption.
