Katie & Kellie

Family Type: Lesbian
State we live in: Louisiana

dear expectant mother

We are so excited to begin this adoption journey together with you. Even without having met you, we are amazed by your strength, resilience, and ultimately generosity. We hope to provide you with a snapshot of the home and the life your child would grow up with if you were to choose us as your child’s adoptive family. We consider ours to be a home filled with laughter and love as well as truth and gratitude and, so importantly, safety and security.

On our best days and our worst days, we are there for each other. Perhaps the sports background we both have lends to us considering ourselves a team. We would love for you and your child to be on our “team” as well. We will possibly be raising your child in our family, and we do not underestimate or take for granted the magnitude of that privilege! We will be forever grateful for this gift and promise to provide a wonderful home for your child.

We will be forever grateful for this gift and promise to provide a wonderful home for your child.

About Us

We met three and a half years ago and had an instant connection as we have many of the same interests and values. We are both very much like Labrador retrievers: friendly, kind, and loyal. Kellie grew up on the East Coast and has a fairly large family. She has a daughter named Raleigh, who is eight years old, and we both love her so much. Kellie played Division I college basketball and is currently a collegiate basketball head coach. Kellie is also passionate about real estate and interior design. Katie also grew up on the East Coast. Her family is smaller, and she is very close to her dad and stepmom as well as her blended family that lives at the beach. She also played Division I college basketball. She coached collegiate basketball for 16 years before making the transition to orthopedic medical sales.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a 2,400-square-foot, four-bedroom, three-bath home. Our neighborhood is located just outside a city within a historic district. We love being able to walk to restaurants, stores, and local parks with Raleigh and our friends. We are also close to two local colleges, and a zoo is just down the road. There is always some sort of community event or festival happening! The best part about where we live is the people! We have four families we are extremely close with, and we often block off one of our streets for the kids to play with each other or ride bikes. We also take a relaxing nightly neighborhood walk with one of the families that sometimes ends in ice cream! We have one family pet, a turtle named Bubbles.

Our Extended Family

We are so lucky to be surrounded by such love and support from our families. Kellie’s family regularly has reunions on the East Coast where her father and his wife live, which always involve late nights, lots of stories, and long goodbyes. Her sisters are regular visitors with their children to our home, and they especially enjoy the seasonal festivals.

Katie’s family lives just two blocks away from the beach, which provides the perfect place to visit for a family vacation. Raleigh walks the family dog on the beach in the morning and swims in the pool in the afternoon. They also take her on exciting kid’s pirate adventure boat rides and more when we come to visit. We are lucky enough that they visit us frequently as well.

What Led Us To Adoption

We are so excited to begin this adoptive journey. We have always been incredibly committed to the idea of growing our family. It is hard to even imagine the joy we would feel as we add a member to our home, which is filled with so much love and laughter. Kellie’s sister has three adoptive children in her wonderful home, and Katie’s best male friend is an adopted child himself. We believe so much in all that adoption represents and truly believe this is the path we are meant to travel.
