Katie & Sandi

Family Type: Lesbian
State we live in: North Carolina

dear expectant mother

As we sit here together, writing this letter, our hearts are pounding with excitement and filled with love to share. We cannot imagine the feelings you must be experiencing, but we marvel at your strength. It is because of your bravery that we might be granted the gift of parenthood. We can assure you we are ready to love and welcome a baby into our family, and we plan on raising a child by promoting their individuality.

We know we are not a traditional family, but we feel that works in our favor. We can appreciate uniqueness, and we vow to be strong advocates for your child. We enjoy traveling and hope to share some of our favorite places with a child as well as explore new places with him or her. We promise we will support him or her in whatever hobbies they want to participate in. We can guarantee we will be your child’s biggest fans, and we will give him or her all the love and support they need. We will do anything in our power to protect them and help them grow into a successful person. Thank you so much for considering us to raise your child.

We look forward to growing our family and are excited to experience all the adventures that come with raising a child.

-Katie & Sandi

About Us

We met through mutual friends and have been together ever since. Despite living in different towns, we made our relationship work. A few years later, Katie accepted a teaching position on the coast. Sandi sold her house and left her job of 12 years to pursue Katie—plus we both desired to move to the beach. Sandi got a great job, and six years later, we have met goals like becoming established in our careers, getting married, purchasing a home, and being able to travel. We spend many weekends fishing and beachcombing. We stay active by playing tennis, kayaking, hiking, and doing yardwork. With Katie’s sensitive, positive, composed, genuine soul, it is hard not to love her, and Sandi is giving, driven, encouraging, and loyal to the ones she loves. We have so much love, and there is extra to give.

Our Home

We live at the beach and lead a very active lifestyle. We purchased our dream house overlooking the water in 2014 and have done many of our own home improvements together. With our house being so close to the water, we like to go kayaking, fishing, swimming, or shelling or just read a book in the seabreeze. We are excited to share these hobbies with a child. We also enjoy walking our dogs around the neighborhood and can envision continuing this endeavour with a stroller. Our cat is less active and enjoys just lounging on one of the decks.

Our Extended Family

Our parents are very excited to become grandparents, and this will be their first grandchild. Katie’s parents have been married for 39 years, and she has one brother, who is three years older than her. With five aunts and uncles and close to 20 cousins, Katie’s entire family lives within 30 miles of each other. They have remained very close, and the holidays are a big deal. Thanksgiving and Christmas with Katie’s family are usually loud and eventful.

Sandi’s family is very small. Her parents have been married for 46 years, and she is an only child. Sandi is very close with several of her aunts and uncles, but they do not live nearby. They get together several times throughout the year.

We consider our friends family too. Every year we go to visit our friends in Georgia to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day with them and their children. We are excited to experience this tradition as a growing family. Halloween has always been a fond holiday in our family. Each year we make our own costumes, carve pumpkins, and hand out candy, and we look forward to the day we can do this with a lil tot.

What Led Us To Adoption

We look forward to growing our family and are excited to experience all the adventures that come with raising a child. We know adoption is the path for us because we are unable to have children of our own, yet we have so much love to give and are both very nurturing. Our childhood friend, Kim, has an adopted daughter who is 10 years old now. Watching as her family grows and flourishes is inspiring as well as rewarding. We want that too and know that, together, we can provide the best life possible.
