Dear Expectant Mother,
We want you to know that we think you are incredibly brave and we couldn’t be more grateful for your generosity and your sacrifice. Decisions like yours are an example of what makes a great community. Not only are you providing a selfless act, but you will also help enrich the lives of people who yearn for what they can not achieve on their own.
We have a loving home for your child that will emphasize the importance of empathy and compassion. Our promise in parenthood is to promote education and raise open-minded, polite and critical thinkers. We believe that every child should be free to express themselves and explore their full potential.
We can’t imagine all the emotions you must be feeling. We are here to support you if you need an ear, or a shoulder to cry on. We want you to know that we are committed to you and your baby, and we want to help. Thank you for getting to know us.
We are both the oldest siblings in our families and have each had a hand in raising sisters significantly younger than ourselves. We individually pursued college outside of our home states and fell in love with Minnesota, where we have since established our lives. We met in September 2011, dated for three years, and we married on the fourth anniversary of our first date. Merne is a web developer, and Kris has followed in his father’s footsteps working in printing. We both find our work very rewarding. Merne enjoys sports and gaming, and Kris likes creating art and keeping a home. We look forward to being actively involved parents.
We live in a five-bedroom suburban home with great schools and lots of youth programs. Our chocolate lab, Autumn, loves our large, open backyard and the two parks within walking distance. We also have two indoor cats, one who sleeps all day and the other befriends anyone who visits. We recently discovered that our neighbors are also in the process of adopting, which is exciting to think that our kids could bond and grow up together.
Our Extended Family
Kris comes from the Pacific Northwest with a large extended family living all across the west, and we are blessed with the opportunity to visit them every year. Merne comes from a very close family, most of which are within a two-hour drive of our home.
Our family shows the true meaning of what it means to be there for one another. We spend as much of our summer at the family cabin as possible, and Christmas is usually spent with Merne’s family.
Both sides have always been loving and supportive of us and present in our lives. Our parents are eager to be grandparents and ready to help out however possible.
What Led Us To Adoption
We recently moved into a new house, and as we pictured our future in our new home we envisioned a baby learning to crawl, a toddler running bare foot and laughter filling the hallways. It is a place that our family could grow together. As we imagined what could be, it became clear to us that we have the opportunity to provide a loving home to a child. We’ve always known we wanted to raise a child, and we realized we are ready to start the next chapter of our lives with the love and support of our family and friends.
