Lee is a native of North Carolina. Matt grew up in South Carolina. We met by random chance at karaoke night back in 2010 and have been inseparable ever since. We both come from loving families that are ecstatic and very supportive of the fact that we wish to grow our family. In addition, we have a large network of friends who are also excited to get to know our future children. We both have our master’s degrees, which lend to our success in our respective fields. Lee is the information technology director of a tissue donation bank. Matt is a developer for solar energy projects. We both love what we do for work and are fortunate that our employers allow us a great work-life balance, which we look forward to utilizing to raise a family.
We live in a beautiful classic neighborhood with tree-lined streets in a large city in North Carolina. Our home is close to parks, playgrounds, shopping centers, great schools, museums, libraries, and an amusement park. We cannot wait to show our future children the many wonderful activities and places our city has to offer. Our home is an open, mid-century modern ranch with three bedrooms, two bathrooms, lots of natural daylight, and a big fenced-in back yard. We are the loving parents of several fur babies—a spoiled black lab dog and four pampered cats—all of whom have a proven track record of being great around children.
Our Extended Family
Matt has a large family with aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of his family. Lee comes from a smaller family, his mother being an only child and his dad being the youngest of two siblings. Matt has two older siblings: one brother and one sister. Lee has one younger brother. We’ve had the privilege of being part of our nieces, nephews, and cousins’ lives as they’ve grown up. Both of our families are very excited and have been very supportive of our decision to pursue adoption.
Every 4th of July, we go Lee’s parents’ house in the country for a fun-filled day of eating, playing in the pool, and a fireworks show at the end of the night. Every Christmas, we go visit Matt’s family at the beach and participate in activities such as bike riding, shopping, going to the beach, and eating lots of great food with immediate and extended family members. We look forward to bringing our future children along to participate in these family traditions along with creating new ones with them.
What Led Us To Adoption
Growing up, we both knew we wanted to someday become parents. It was exciting for us in the beginning of our relationship to know we shared that common goal. We both worked very hard at advancing in our careers so we could come to a point when we could achieve our dreams of parenthood. When we felt the time was right, we began looking for the best path to pursue our dream. Through our research, we came to the decision that adoption would be a wonderful opportunity for us to not only grow our family but to help a mother fulfill her hopes and dreams for her child.
