Dear Expectant Mother,
We cannot attempt to imagine the emotions you’re experiencing right now, so most of all, we want you to know that we greatly admire you for your courage and thoughtfulness in exploring adoption. What you are doing is so brave and selfless, and we are genuinely grateful to even be considered for such an incredible gift.
If given the opportunity, we will be so excited to go through this adoption journey with you. We promise to always value and respect you and to be there as absolutely much as you want us to be for as long as you want us to be. We thank you so much for your consideration, and if we are given the chance, we promise we will provide your little one with endless love, patience, support, and family. We promise to never forget what a priceless gift we have been given and to always be grateful to you for trusting us with so much. We promise to be worthy of that trust by providing your baby with a happy childhood and every possible opportunity they could want.
This decision must be almost impossible, but please know that if you do decide to trust us with the raising of your child, you will be providing your baby with a large, supportive family and never-ending love. We will always cherish you and will not let you down. Thank you so much.
We’re Julia and Luis. We are best friends with big hearts and a shared love for adventure. Julia works in accounting for a solar company part time but mostly focuses on our doggie daycare business, with a flexible schedule and the chance to be home most days. Luis also gets a lot of flexibility in his job as a special events coordinator for a popular restaurant. We first bonded over our love of animals and passion for travel and always seek new adventures and opportunities to learn about the world. While we still make time to travel, for now, most adventures are closer to home, like camping, boating, floating the river, or barbequing with friends. Another favorite activity is simply trying new recipes to impress one another. Most of all, we love spoiling our pets like exercising the dogs, teasing the cat, or making veggie popsicles for the chickens.
We have a remodeled three-bedroom house on a corner lot that we share with our chihuahuas (Fumble and NachoTaco) and our cat (Ditty Kitty). We’re very close to several schools and daycares as well as the city’s venues, waterparks, and museums. Our backyard’s our favorite, with a garden, a patio, a dog run, room for a big swing set, and an enclosure for our three chickens. We love to garden, barbeque, and roast marshmallows in the firepit. Our small neighborhood is clean and safe, with lots of kids and a pool just up the street. We can’t wait to take our own kids biking to the nearby mountain reserve or visiting the animals that live on the ranches and farms along the way.
Our Extended Family
Our family is everything to us. We both had happy childhoods with a lot of support and emphasis on family. The small town where Luis grew up is home to almost 300 family members, still growing, with his sixth niece/nephew on the way. His parents are our role models, and we pray that we can be so happy after 33 years of marriage. Julia’s family, though more spread out, includes two stepbrothers and a sister she is very close with; although dispersed between four states and three countries, they remain in contact almost daily.
We really value how close our families are, and tradition is important to us. We can’t wait to pass on our lefse tradition (a two-day process that takes a crew) or the family’s friendly Fourth of July softball games. We get together frequently for all reasons to celebrate—quinceaneras, weddings, graduations and new babies—but especially cherish our bi-annual Christmas Eves in Illinois (complete with lots of gifts and a visit from Santa) and Thanksgiving with Luis’s family (his parents hosting 100+ people for dinner and dancing). Our family is our foundation, and we can’t wait to grow it more!
What Led Us To Adoption
We both have adopted cousins and always loved the stories about our aunts and uncles building their families. It turns out we have a ton of love to give too! When we first met, we started talking about adoption as soon as our second date. Julia has wanted to adopt since childhood, and the likelihood of risky pregnancies combined with big hearts and a deep desire to have a family made adoption the easy choice for both of us. Finding each other was the first hurdle, but we know this new journey will be just as wonderful and can’t wait to share it with you!
