Dear Expectant Mother,
We would like to thank you for considering helping our family of two grow to a family of three. We understand how important and difficult this decision is for you, and we are more thankful than you can possibly imagine. We look forward to meeting you and learning about you and your life experiences.
While we cannot predict the future, we can promise you this: We will love and take care of your child and put his or her needs above our own. We will help him or her grow strong and healthy and will build happy memories in a stable environment. Your baby will travel to Greece and Puerto Rico, meet our extended families, and learn to love animals through our puppies and bird. We will teach him or her right and wrong, and we will guide him or her through life and offer our support and experience. We will keep updating you on our life together, and when your baby and you are ready to meet again, we will all make that trip together.
Hello, and thanks for looking at our profile. Our names are Manuel and Nikos. We met online about eight years ago. We have been together since and got married in 2015. Manuel is a financial auditor from Puerto Rico working for the government, and Nikos is a cancer physician from Greece working for an academic center. We live in a downtown loft with two fluffy dogs and a talking parrot. We both like to work out and cook. Manuel likes to sew clothes, and Nikos dabbles in painting. We try to visit Puerto Rico and Greece at least once a year. Having accomplished financial and emotional stability, we feel it’s time to grow our family and share some of our love with a new member of our family.
We live in a spacious downtown loft with a separate upper level and rooftop deck area. Our place is big enough for about four people. We love lounging in the family room while watching TV and the city lights in the distance. Manuel has a sewing room where he spends a lot of his time, and Nikos prefers the upper-level small rooftop house where he can read books. We have two big fluffy and friendly dogs, Stella (6) and SantaB (1). They are Bouvier Des Flanders; they are family dogs with a mild, clownish temperament. We also have a large Eclectus parrot, Chuchu (8). He speaks on occasion, but for the most part, he likes watching TV and stealing food.
Our Extended Family
Manuel comes from a big and very tight Puerto Rican family with more than 50 immediate family members. They love to cook and get together at different family members’ houses, and they also love to go to the beach and enjoy hours by the water. Big celebrations in Puerto Rico include the Three Kings’ Day and all major Christian holidays.
Nikos’s extended family is smaller as his father was an only child, but they are equally close to each other. As a family, we like to decorate the house, make cookies, and exchange gifts for Christmas. We have friends and family over for Thanksgiving and New Year's and dress up (including the pets) and greet trick-or-treaters for Halloween.
What Led Us To Adoption
We both come from loving families with two to three siblings and close relationships with our parents, grandparents, and uncles. We grew up feeling loved and protected and always wanted to be able to offer that to a child. We have also reached a point where we can care for and provide for a child financially. We explored some different avenues to grow our family, but adoption is something we are very interested in. Nikos’s father grew up loved by his stepfather, and this is the only grandfather Nikos knows.
