Dear Expectant Mother,
Thank you so much for taking the time to read this and for considering us as adoptive parents for your child. We cannot begin to imagine how difficult this journey and decision must be for you. It takes an immense amount of courage and resilience to trust someone else with such a precious gift. We promise to be honest and transparent with you about who we are and how much we will nurture, support, and love your baby.
We promise to create a life for your child that is full of love, joy, laughter, and spontaneous dance parties. Your baby will have two deeply loving and supportive parents, and lots of grandparents, aunts, and uncles who can’t wait to fill their life with love. We have built a life that centers on family and friendship, giving back to our communities, and seeking out the joys in life. We cannot wait to share this life with a child and provide them with all the opportunities to grow, explore, be inspired, love deeply, think big, and know that anything is possible.
We are beyond humbled and excited about the possibility to adopt and build a relationship with you. Thank you for considering us, and we hope you give us the chance to get to know us even better.
We met at a concert through a mutual friend and instantly had a connection, and then we kept running into each other because we share so many mutual friends (we have good taste in friends!). Not long after, we began dating and quickly knew we wanted to spend our lives together. We got married in 2016, and our wedding was officiated by our good friend, who introduced us. Petey’s career has been and will continue to be serving marginalized students on college campuses to support them in their path to graduation. Nichole loves working for the Office of Diversity and Inclusion and working with staff, faculty, and students across campus. We have a love for all things Harry Potter and Disney and have vacationed at the Happiest Place on Earth many times. We also love spending time with our friends, family, and our two dogs and cat.
We became homeowners three years ago, after finding the house that we could grow into with our family. We own a two-story home with four bedrooms, located in a historic neighborhood. We have a fenced in backyard where our two dogs, Max and Silver, love spending their days. We also have a cat named Charlie, who mostly likes to nap. Our street has a “boardwalk” down the middle with lots of grass and walkways. This makes our street great for long walks with dogs and getting to know our neighbors. We also have a park up the road, where families can be found playing on a Saturday or Sunday morning.
Our Extended Family
One thing that drew us close so quickly was how much we value family and friends. Petey’s parents are so loving and supportive, and Petey’s home growing up was the house where all of the neighborhood friends wanted to hangout. We also spend a lot of time with Petey’s extended family at holidays and have started a tradition of a yearly cousin-gathering. We all get together every Thanksgiving at Petey’s parents’ house. It is probably one of our favorite times of the year: we all make Petey’s grandmother’s old recipes of chex mix, scotcharoos, and sloppy joes, and we all go to our annual family movie together.
Nichole’s family is very close. She and her two brothers are close in age, and they are the best of friends. Nichole’s family loves the holidays and Christmas is always a very special time for the family, as it is also our nephew’s birthday. Last Christmas, we all went to Florida and spent Christmas at Disney World. It was such an amazing trip and we made so many great memories. We cannot wait to add a little one to our family to grow up in these traditions and love.
What Led Us To Adoption
We both love and value family and want to see our family grow through the gift of adoption. Before we met, we each knew from a young age that we wanted to adopt, and it didn’t take long before we knew we wanted to spend our lives together and share the adoption journey. We have many people close to us who have gone through the adoption process, and to see how adoption has positively impacted their lives has only reaffirmed our decision. The choice is clear that pursuing adoption is the right path for us.
