Rebecca & Sandy

Family Type: Lesbian
State we live in: Florida

dear expectant mother

You are going through a life-changing event. Your strength and courage to give birth to a child for a family so desperate to shower your child with love is awe inspiring. We are so grateful to you. All of our traditions and hobbies are enjoyable, and they will be made so much more meaningful sharing them with children.

We promise to cherish your gift by filling our house with love and compassion. We promise to be a united front, a stable foundation, and a warm hug. We promise to make messes, toss some flour making cookies, and play in the mud. We promise to study, help with projects, read lots of books, and find humor in everything.

We cannot wait to spend time raising children, teaching them everything we know, and preparing them to make the world a better place. Although we are not able to have children naturally, we dream about taking our future children to Disney, waiting up for Santa, and going camping. Your journey, your strength, and your gift to us would make that possible. We will be forever grateful.

We promise to make messes, toss some flour making cookies, and play in the mud. We promise to study, help with projects, read lots of books, and find humor in everything.

About Us

We met through a church ministry in 2013. We became fast friends, bonding over faith, goofy jokes, and barbeque. Our first date was a walk around downtown and a beer at a local pub. In 2015 Sandy proposed on a mountaintop in Tennessee. We got married in 2016 in our church and had a lively reception in the courtyard. We both love the outdoors, hiking, fishing, kayaking, camping, and sitting around our firepit in the backyard. Rebecca is an insurance claims adjuster by day. Sandy is a manager for a software company. She has been working for the same company for six years. She works from home, which allows her to spoil our dog and two cats.

Our Home & Pets

Our single-story home is in a gated neighborhood with a community pool and is walking distance from a brand-new school. Our neighborhood is mostly young families, kids playing together, and families walking dogs. We have a fenced-in backyard where we play with our dog. We are under two hours away from Disney, an hour away from grandparents and the beach, and half an hour from a large county park. There is a small dairy farm not far from us where we can visit cows and buy fresh milk and cheesecake. Tucker is our dog. He is friendly, loving, and curious. We have a black cat named Bagheera and a loving and playful white and black cat named Lucy.

Our Extended Family

We are very close with our extended family. Rebecca’s mother is one of six children, so there are plenty of aunts, uncles, and cousins. Sandy’s father and mother have passed; however, we are very close to her grandparents, two aunts, and two cousins.

This past Thanksgiving, we rented a large home in Charleston, SC, for the whole family to get together for Rebecca’s grandparents’ 80th birthdays and a large Thanksgiving dinner. We love watching the parade and waiting for Santa to wave. We try to get to Tennessee once a year to hike in the mountains and visit Dollywood. We rent a cabin and explore the land.

Christmas is a time of year steeped in traditions. Every Christmas we go to EPCOT for the candlelight processional. We watch all the Christmas movies we love and drive around and look at lights. We also order Danish Kringle and decorate the house.

What Led Us To Adoption

After several long conversations about our future family and how much we want children, we decided to start this adoption journey. We did some research, looked into the process, and started talking to friends and family. Our child’s future grandparents and great-grandparents are so very excited about this process as well. The more we have talked to others about our adoption journey, the more people we have met who are adopted. One of Rebecca’s friends and colleagues, now in her 60s, spent time discussing her childhood after being adopted and how thrilled she was we are on this adoption journey. Sandy’s second cousin adopted both of her sons and understands the patience, love, and excitement of the journey.
