Romer & Jayson

Family Type: Gay
State we live in: California

dear expectant mother

We admire the courage it takes for you to search for just the right family for the new life you are carrying. From the day we met 17 years ago, we have been dreaming of, planning, and researching a way to start a family of our own. We often second-guessed if we were ready, but we have come to the realization there is never a “perfect time” to have children.

It is our dream to raise our child with memories of running on the beach with the dogs, making friends, going to the park, family holidays, and life-affirming experiences like helping to raise foster kittens from the local animal shelter. We offer a safe, loving, and supportive home surrounded by friends, family, pets, and a friendly neighborhood filled with children waiting to make new friends. We hope our child will have the courageous spirit of their birthmother and that we’ll instill a sense of kindness and compassion that will guide them throughout a happy and fulfilled life.

Thank you for your consideration as you learn more about us and the home we offer. We hope you find just the right home for your child, whether it’s with us or another family.

About Us

We’ve been together for over 17 years and have been happily married since 2008. We really complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses. Romer is more left brained, analytical, and introverted, while Jayson is more right brained, creative, and social. Romer is a systems engineer working in the biotech industry developing genetic tests. He spends his free time gardening, cooking, and reading about history and science. Jayson works with the local Humane Society and is also involved in theater and social causes. We both love animals, and we foster litters of kittens. We also love taking our dogs out to the beach to swim and play. We are so devoted to animal welfare that we even got married at the zoo.

Our Home & Pets

We live in a quiet suburb next to an elementary school and a large park with a lake stocked with fish. We’re close to the beach, amusement parks, the zoo, museums, and theaters. Our home is a pet lover’s dream come true. Dogs, cats, parakeets, chickens, and tropical fish all live happily together. From time to time, we may raise a litter of kittens for the local humane society. The neighbors often send their kids to play with the animals and help in the gardens. We’ve made our property a sanctuary for wildlife, with bird feeders and bird houses in the trees. There is a lovely flower garden out front filled with butterflies and hummingbirds. Recently we discovered a family of frogs living around our fountain.

Our Extended Family

Jayson’s family is close by. His sister shares love for animals. Jayson’s dad comes from a large, loving Mexican family, most of whom live in Arizona. We often drive out there for family reunions. Every Christmas Eve, Jayson’s mom would read him a bedtime story. And every year he’d hear Santa’s reindeer landing on the roof and would rush off to bed because Santa wouldn’t come unless he was asleep. Many Christmases later he was invited to climb up the ladder and join his dad dancing on the roof so his baby sister could feel the same magic.

Romer has a sister and brother. His sister has two kids, ages eight and nine, who love visiting our animal house and are already talking about their future cousin. Romer’s parents enjoy playing with their grandkids and hosting the many family get-togethers, where karaoke is mandatory! Romer also has family throughout the U.S. and the Philippines. Romer and his family are practicing Catholics, and he was even an altar boy growing up.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always been interested in starting a family and wanted to find the perfect place to raise a child. Not too long ago, after we had been together for 15 years, we bought a house next to an excellent school and near the city parks with the express purpose of raising a child here. We can’t wait to take a little one to the park and to play on the swings and explore nature.
