Dear Expectant Mother,
There are times in our lives when we are faced with difficult decisions that will forever be etched into the universe, and as you read this letter, we know today is one of those moments. We cannot begin to imagine the feelings that may be running through your body and mind, but we recognize your bravery in considering adoption.
We want to assure you that we welcome the opportunity to raise your child with open arms and warm hearts. Our dreams will come true as we do all we can to provide your child the opportunities to learn through adventure and exploration. Your child will grow amongst a family of friends who will look out for his or her best interests.
We want you find comfort in your decision, that you have placed your child in a loving home and have provided opportunities for your child, so you can have pride in all your child will achieve, the same pride we will feel as we prepare him or her for the world that awaits. From the bottom of our hearts, we thank you for taking the time to consider us as parents, and we will truly be honored to raise your child.
In our world, friends are family, and it was through mutual friends that we learned of each other and discovered we share the same love for the shenanigans that make up our softball lives. Tommie works in sales and Philip in the food industry, and when not working or enjoying the softball diamond, you can find us kayaking the local lakes, walking on hiking trail, or getting our adrenaline rush in local amusement parks. In the end, it’s always about the adventure: the take-a-ways from those moments and the memories we create together!
Our home feels like the center of universe at times, with family and friends coming and going throughout the year. A friend described our home as an escape from reality and a trip down memory lane all in one, with artwork and photos throughout the house that allow everyone to enjoy our keepsakes and memories of past adventures. As for the house itself, it is nestled in a diverse community surrounded by A+ schools, in an area rich in outdoor adventures, parks, and cultural activities that will provide the opportunity to expose your child to the offerings of the world. Of course, all of this has to be shared with our playful pup, Kiwi, too.
Our Extended Family
To define our relationship to our families back home, the trips to Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, and New York all seem endless at times, but we wouldn’t have it any other way! We love to stay connected with grandparents, parents, siblings, nieces, and nephews.
As individuals who moved from our home towns to pursue our dreams, we knew we needed to create a family from friends who shared our same sense of adventure and love of life. From holiday decorating with our godchildren to holiday dinners around the table with our closest friends, we are fortunate to share the holidays with our “chosen” family.
It’s through our vacations that we have established “our” traditions. Whether it’s hiking the trails of Hawaii, zip-lining the rain forests of St. Lucia, or kayaking the lakes of Minnesota, every trip we take is a combination of taking in nature and exploring the local experiences of the area, and we build our memories upon these moments. Even visits back home to visit our families include new adventures, from running a local 5k to exploring a new museum. There is always a takeaway from the trip and a keepsake that adorns our home to encapsulate the memory.
What Led Us To Adoption
Our first date was focused on sharing our dreams, defining the “perfect” relationship, and understanding how those dreams could impact our lives. We both agreed children were most definitely in our future: we want to experience life surrounded by their energy, and we want to share our love of life and adventure. Those shared dreams, on that first date, have been forever etched into our hearts. We knew immediately we were a match and that we wanted to explore the world as a family.
