dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We can promise we will devote to your baby all the love of two parents for whom the chance to have a child is tantamount to a miracle. We have never been able to have a pregnancy, so we can never truly understand how you feel, but we are truly grateful you are considering an adoption plan for your precious baby. Thank you for taking the time to get to know us and for considering us as adoptive parents.

If you choose us, we promise to give your baby every opportunity to grow up into the best person that he or she can be. We both take education extremely seriously and have the resources to ensure that your baby will have even better access to good schools and colleges than we did. Naturally, we will teach him or her the importance of love and family values and encourage him or her to spread his or her wings and to figure out who he or she truly is as a person. Most importantly, we promise to tell your baby every day how much he or she is loved and how much he or she has changed our lives for the better.

Sincerely,
Joe & Ale

We can promise we will devote to your baby all the love of two parents for whom the chance to have a child is tantamount to a miracle.

About Us

Joe is originally from Massachusetts, and Ale is from Arequipa, in the Andes of Peru. We come from hardworking, supportive, and very loving families that are the most important part of our lives. We originally met in Lima, Peru, ten years ago, and we realized from the very first date that we had each found our soulmate. We always knew we wanted a family together, so in 2015 we got married and settled down in Florida with the objective of raising a family. Adopting our daughter, Gigi, was the greatest moment in both our lives. Every day watching her learn and grow is a gift for us. We spend a lot of time together bringing Gigi around the city to new playgrounds, museums, and the beach, and we love teaching her how to swim and play new games. We are all excited for Gigi to have a little brother or sister to complete our family.

Our Home

We have a beautiful house in the middle of an incredibly diverse neighborhood. We moved in specifically with the goal of raising kids, and our house is within walking distance of good schools, three parks, and public transportation. Of course, this being Florida, the beach is a ten-minute drive away. Unlike many Florida houses, ours is nearly a century old, and we’ve put a lot of time and effort into making it comfortable and kid friendly. (There were a lot of thorny plants to take out!) We have been able to host our daughter’s birthday parties in our big backyard, and we have plenty of extra room for when Grandma and Grandpa come to visit in the winters.

Our Extended Family

We both come from fairly large extended families. Joe has two younger brothers and a dozen cousins. Alejandro has an older brother and sister and several dozens of cousins. All of our parents are still alive and deeply love our daughter. For Joe, Passover was always the biggest family gathering of the year, while for Alejandro, it was Christmas. We usually try to celebrate Thanksgiving with Joe’s family and Christmas with Alejandro’s. Both of our families have been very supportive of our decision to adopt our daughter, and everyone is excited for us to welcome another baby into the family.

Our Adoption Story

Wanting to raise children was one of the things that attracted us to each other. Both of us come from fairly large families, and both of us knew since we were teenagers that one of the things we wanted most in life was to become a dad. In fact, we can both say the hardest part about coming out as gay was that we might never get the chance to raise children. Adopting our daughter, Gigi, has wildly exceeded our expectations, and we love every moment we have with her. We are so excited to share our love with another child, for our daughter to become a big sibling, and to create the kind of big family we each grew up in.
