dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

First, we want to thank you—from the bottom of our hearts—for taking the time to read our story. While we can't imagine the weight of the decision you're facing, we do know it takes incredible strength, courage, and love to even consider this path. Please know we see you. We respect you. And we already hold you in our hearts with deep admiration and compassion.

We want you to know that if you choose adoption, and if we're the right match, your child will be raised in a home overflowing with love, stability, and opportunity. They'll be surrounded by laughter, family traditions, and a community that believes in showing up for one another. We'll make sure they know where they came from—that your love made this life possible—and that their story began with your bravery.

We are so ready to become parents. We've spent years growing together, nurturing a strong relationship rooted in empathy, communication, and kindness. Our home is already full of warmth (and the right amount of chaos thanks to our dogs and chickens), but it's missing one very important piece—a child to share it with.

Whatever decision you make, we hope you feel supported, respected, and surrounded by love in every step of your journey. Thank you for considering us as part of your story. We are honored, humbled, and filled with hope.

With love and gratitude,
Dennis & Allyssa

Please know we see you. We respect you. And we already hold you in our hearts with deep admiration and compassion.

About Us

Hi there! We're Dennis and Allyssa. We met in 2020, just as the world was slowing down. Allyssa had just moved to the area, and we connected online—then spent our first date talking for hours about our dreams, goals, and everything in between. It felt like we had always known each other. Today, we're still each other's favorite person.

Dennis is steady, curious, and full of quiet charisma. He works in finance and thrives on learning new things. Allyssa is warm, reliable, and always ready to listen. She works as a chief of staff for a nonprofit focused on food access and sustainability. We complement each other naturally—Dennis brings calm perspective, Allyssa brings steady momentum, and together we make a strong, balanced team.

We love gardening, being outside, and anything soccer-related. On quieter days, you'll find us reading, gaming, or just enjoying a peaceful evening at home.

Our Home & Neighborhood

We live in a welcoming historic neighborhood on the edge of a major city in North Carolina. We are within walking distance of endless attractions like museums, concerts, and multiple pro sports teams. Now, if you ask our two rescue dogs, Tucker, a beagle mix, and Finnegan, a black lab, the real sights are the endless parks, playgrounds, and walking trails. When we want some quiet, we tuck away into our yard, which we turned into our own garden paradise. The garden provides us with fresh fruits and veggies most of the year and is also home to our 3 free-range chickens, Cher, Goose, and Mable. It's not uncommon to see them lounging with the dogs under the peach tree.

Our Family & Friends

Dennis is the youngest of two boys, and Allyssa is the second oldest of five with two boys, three girls. Dennis has dual citizenship with Germany, so a portion of his extended family is abroad, but we keep in touch regularly. We both have gigantic extended families. We really operate under the rule of once you're in, you're in for life. It's not uncommon on the holidays to show up at Granny and Granddaddy's (Allyssa's grandparents) and see 20-50 people. All aunts, uncles, cousins, Dennis's family, or even friends with nowhere to go.

Our family gatherings are filled with joy, connection, and core memories, like Granddaddy walking around the yard in stilts to make the littles giggle. With most of our families just an hour or less away, we stay closely connected, creating a safe, nurturing environment where the littles are cherished and can learn from shared experiences. Allyssa's grandparents also have an adoption story of their own, so they know the power of a strong community. These traditions and support systems continue to positively shape the way we plan our own family, and we can't wait to welcome a child into this warm, loving circle.

What Led Us To Adoption

Allyssa herself is adopted, and our family trees have adoption rooted throughout. We have a deep desire to create a loving, stable environment where a child can grow, thrive, and experience unconditional support. We're both from military families that modeled love, empathy, compassion, and communication - the values that shape family and create that power of connection. After years of nurturing our own relationship, we are so ready to open our hearts and home to a child. The decision of adoption was pretty second nature for us. We've been lucky to witness, through family and friends, the beautiful impact adoption can have, and we're so excited to experience our own adoption journey.
