dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We are so grateful for your consideration of us to raise your child. As a gay couple, we cannot have children on our own, so you are vital in our journey to becoming parents. We know this decision was not an easy one to make, and we admire your bravery and wisdom. If you choose us, we promise to make sure your child grows up in a safe home full of love and laughter, and we will strive to give your child everything they could possibly need.

Family is very important to both of us. Our fondest memories growing up are of those spent at family celebrations and holidays and the traditions we had at home. We can’t wait to make memories raising your child, creating new traditions, passing on old ones, and taking annual trips to Disney World, our favorite vacation spot. We’re very excited to start this adventure, as is our extended family. There is a lot of support between siblings, parents, aunts, uncles, and cousins who are all anxiously awaiting a new child in the family.

If you were to choose us to be parents to your child, it would be the greatest gift we could possibly hope to receive. In choosing us, you would forever be our hero, and we would feel so honored and blessed by your decision. Also, our puppy, Sophia, said she really wants a little brother or sister and will be the best big fur-sister ever!

Love,
Andy and Mike

About Us

We are a loving, committed couple that has been together since 2011 after meeting online. Mike is a residency program coordinator for a non-profit health center, and Andy is a training coordinator for a utility company. We share a similar goofy and playful sense of humor and love to try to make each other laugh whenever we can! We initially bonded over our shared love of theater and are now quite active within our community’s theater scene. We also enjoy annual trips together to Walt Disney World that we hope to share with little ones of our own someday. When we aren’t working, at the theater, or planning vacations, we love to visit with family and friends or relax at home playing video games together or binge watching television on the couch with our dog and cat and a big bowl of homemade popcorn.

Our Home & Pets

Our four-bedroom house with a finished basement sits within a small suburb of a bustling Indiana college town. We share our home with two fur babies: Sophia, a six-year-old Lab mix who loves cuddles and playtime with everyone, and Griffin, our 15-year-old cat who keeps to himself but loves getting petted. Our school district is ranked in the top ten within the state. Our downtown section, a ten-minute drive from our house, has a plethora of restaurants as well as boutiques, two community theaters providing youth classes, and a large outdoor plaza with an amphitheater, skating rink, and farmers market. We are also close to a number of lovely parks, a movie theater, a YMCA, and a Boys and Girls Club.

Our Extended Family

Andy has one older brother, who is married with a teenager and two toddlers. His parents are divorced. Before his dad met his now longtime girlfriend, he lived with Andy’s grandmother, aunt, uncle, and two cousins. Andy considers them closer than an average extended family. Andy has five aunts and uncles, eight cousins, and one grandmother. Most of his cousins have spouses and children of their own as well. All of Andy’s family and most of his extended family live within 30 minutes, so we see them all regularly. They are big on celebrations (his grandmother turned 99 this year), and they try to all get together for an extended weekend around the Fourth of July.

Mike is very close to his older sister and parents, who all live together about 30 minutes away. We try to visit a few times a month to have dinner and hang out. His parents just celebrated their 51st anniversary! He is not as close to his extended family as they are scattered across the country, but he has one grandmother, seven aunts and uncles, and eight cousins.

What Led Us To Adoption

We both have a strong desire to raise and care for children, having both grown up in loving, close families of our own. We want to have our own family to pass traditions on to, celebrate life’s achievements with, and share in the day-to-day family life, but we obviously cannot do so by ourselves being a gay couple. After weighing all of our options, we decided on adoption being the best fit and are excited to have the opportunity to provide a stable, safe, and caring home as we fulfill our dream of becoming parents through LifeLong Adoptions.
