dear expectant mother

As we sit down to write this letter to you, we have no idea what you look like, what makes you smile, or even where you’re reading this. We do know you are considering adoption for your child because you want them to grow up in a loving home with parents who will cherish, protect, and care for your baby through every skinned knee, high school heartbreak, and birthday celebration.

We cannot begin to express how brave we believe you are to consider this decision; we will be right here with you throughout this process. As parents, we know there is a deep, inseparable love between you and your child. Every little kick or hiccup you feel in your belly is a reminder of the precious life you are nurturing.

We believe so strongly that God has called us to adoption after experiencing infertility and loss, and we cannot wait to meet our next little one. If you choose us to adopt your child, we will devote ourselves to loving, protecting, and cherishing your baby with every fiber of our being. They will be with a family that will give them every opportunity, encourage them to be compassionate toward others, teach them to find peace in the midst of hard moments, and let them lean on us during life’s toughest times. We cannot wait to meet you!

With our love,
Jamie and April

We cannot begin to express how brave we believe you are to consider this decision; we will be right here with you throughout this process.

About Us

Hi! We’re April and Jamie, and we’re so excited you want to get to know our family. We have been married for nine years. We are high school sweethearts and have two kids, Oliver (4 ½ years old) and Noah (1 ½ years old). Jamie is a software consultant, and April works part-time as an editor for a marketing company while primarily caring for the boys. We enjoy taking on DIY home remodeling projects, going to the neighborhood pool and parks with Oliver and Noah, traveling domestically and internationally, and cooking and eating (especially food grown from our garden!). Our favorite part of the day is spent with the boys, whether it’s going to swimming lessons, martial arts lessons, enjoying a walk to our park, visiting the library, or seeing grandparents. On weekends, April makes special breakfasts, and we spend the day going on local adventures.

Our Home

We moved into our home over 5 years ago and knew immediately after looking at the house which rooms we would want our future children to be in. Our neighborhood is culturally diverse and includes multiple smaller communities of various-sized townhomes and single-family homes. Especially during warmer months and holidays, neighbors will get together for cookouts or to celebrate. We love taking Oliver and Noah for walks and going to one of the four parks in the neighborhood; this year we’ve begun redeeming the hotter summer days at the neighborhood pool. While the local schools and daycare are excellent, April prefers to teach Oliver at home.

Our Extended Family

If you have ever seen My Big Fat Greek Wedding, then you understand what Jamie’s family is like! Jamie has two brothers and one sister, all of whom are married and loving aunts and uncles. Oliver and Noah have six cousins, and our entire family is excited to continue growing the cousin crew through our adoption! All our families live within two hours of each other. We often walk to Jamie’s brother’s house just five minutes away through the neighborhood. We all gather at Jamie’s parents’ (Yiayia and Papou) house, a ten-minute drive away, for regular family dinners, Greek Easter celebration, and other holidays and birthdays.

April’s family is also nearby, with her older brother and parents (Gigi and Dandan) living just 15 minutes away. We take trips to April’s parents’ house throughout the week to play on their swingset, take walks around the neighborhood, and see the flowers in their garden. April’s twin brother and wife live an hour away and always happily make the trip to celebrate holidays and birthdays and to simply spend time with family.

What Led Us To Adoption

We have always wanted many children, like each of our own families. We want to raise more children in a loving home and family to positively influence this world to be kinder, more compassionate, and more loving. However, after a diagnosis of infertility and overcoming a pregnancy loss, we have realized that children—already understood to be an amazing blessing—are, in fact, a miracle. We feel strongly that family is about the love you choose to share with someone, not about common DNA. Over the course of many years, our hearts have grown from expectation for a biological child to deep gratitude and hope for an adopted child. We are thrilled by the opportunity to welcome another child into our home through adoption.
