Hi! We’re Austin and Spencer! Our journey together began on Instagram, where we followed each other for a few years. Despite having similar backgrounds and interests, our paths didn’t cross—until 2020, when we started chatting about our dogs. That conversation quickly developed into a strong friendship. As we got to know each other, we discovered even more shared passions: We’re both active and enjoy running, weightlifting, and playing sand volleyball, and we have a mutual love for travel and horses. This shared interest has even taken us across the U.S. to compete in equestrian events. Spencer is a professional horse trainer and coach, while Austin works remotely as an account manager for a tech company. With the shared dream of starting a family, we got married in December 2022.
We live in a charming Iowa suburb that combines the warmth of small-town life with the convenience of city amenities. Our neighborhood is home to many young families, and we’re fortunate to be within walking distance of several parks, schools, and a variety of restaurants. We've called our house home since 2021, and we love putting our personal touch on it with ongoing projects. Our three dogs—Rusty, Moose, and Evvy—are a big part of our family. Rusty is an Australian shepherd, while Moose and Evvy are goldendoodles. All three are five years old, are well trained, and have sweet, gentle temperaments. They’re especially great with children. In addition to our dogs, we also have a few horses, which are kept at the barn where Spencer trains.
Family means the world to us, and we’re incredibly fortunate to have ours close by, all still located in Iowa. Austin’s parents live on a farm about an hour away. We especially enjoy going to the farm in our free time, whether for family gatherings, holidays, or an annual cattle drive. Austin is the second of four children, with two sisters and a brother. This year, his older sister welcomed our first niece. We have loved being uncles and are excited to become parents ourselves.
Spencer’s parents both live about an hour and a half from us, along with his brother. Having grown up in a lake town, Spencer especially enjoys the time we spend together on the lake when we visit. We recently purchased bikes to ride the trails around the area with his family. We love that both of our families are nearby and we can easily visit regularly and create memories with our growing family.
We've always known that parenthood was part of our future, and after much thought, we realized adoption is the most meaningful way for us to grow our family. We both feel a deep calling to offer love, stability, and opportunities to a child, and adoption feels like the perfect way to begin this next chapter in our lives. We are filled with excitement as we look forward to sharing our home, our love, and our lives with a child.
