Betty & Emily

Family Type: Lesbian Couple
State we live in: Texas

dear expectant mother

We recognize we will never honestly know what you are going through during this time. We can only imagine this is a stressful and emotional time for you. We cannot begin to express how much we admire your strength, and we hope to always remind your child of your love for them. If you decide to choose us, your child will continue to be loved by our families and us.

We are excited about motherhood, and your child will be the best part of our family. This baby will be part of a big mixed family of Mexicans and Americans. We will teach your child to speak Spanish to communicate with their Mexican grandparents and will enjoy drives to visit their American grandpa’s cows. They will grow up in a nurturing space with lots of love and laughter. They will enjoy our many family traditions, like making tacos, and new traditions as we make lasting memories together. We will teach your child the importance of being a kind and generous person, and your child will gain the confidence to be whoever they want to be without pressure. You will always be part of their story, and we will make sure they know your compassion.

We express so much gratitude in your decision to consider us for your baby. We hope we can continue to honor the love and strength you will represent for our growing family.

About Us

We first met in a computer lab in graduate school. We became best friends and later started dating. We are both sociologists who are passionate about social justice and value hard work. We are easygoing people and like to laugh at good jokes. We are family oriented, and on a typical weekend, we FaceTime our families for hours. We have two lazy dogs, Alaska and Miles. We share a love for music and often play guitar together. Beatriz is patient and caring with the people she loves deeply. She loves to go to Mexico to visit her family and eat street tacos. We also enjoy cooking authentic Mexican food. Emily is a sensitive and thoughtful person. She loves long bike rides, good books, and camping. We like to joke around and dance it out on a stressful day. We can’t wait to add to our family and create new memories!

Our Home & Pets

We live in a two-story duplex in a family-friendly neighborhood in a large city in Texas. We have a fenced-in backyard large enough for a child to play around with our two low-energy dogs, Miles (8) and Alaska (6). Our dogs love to watch kids laugh and play but are often too lazy to participate. Miles is a sweet Lab mix, and Alaska is an eager-to-please terrier. Our hammock is our favorite place to relax and perfect for a cozy time outside with a sleepy child. Our area has many great parks and playgrounds for energetic children. The neighborhood is diverse and has a rich history. We can’t wait to go on walks as a family.

Our Extended Family

Beatriz is part of a large Mexican immigrant family. She has three younger sisters and her parents. They live in the New York area. Beatriz has 27 first cousins who live in both Mexico and the U.S. She is very close to her siblings and cousins. Her family is very hard working and the typical traditional Mexican family. Beatriz is close to her best friend and her family, who helped her throughout her graduate studies and only lives an hour away. We hope to teach our baby Spanish and the importance of Mexican traditions as well any traditions that are important their birthmother.

Emily’s extended family consists of her mother, her older sister, her father and stepmother, her three step-siblings (and their spouses), and her half-brother. Emily is adopted, and she is close to her biological parents, who are still married, and their three children. Emily’s family lives in Louisiana, and we drive out there a few times a year to visit. Emily’s family is welcoming and a warm Southern family. There are two baby cousins looking to make friends with our baby. Emily’s mother has a family tradition of labeling Christmas presents with jokes and riddles for her children, and we hope to continue this.

What Led Us To Adoption

We both have large families and always wanted to have kids in our lives. Emily is adopted, and she has a wonderful relationship with her biological family. Her parents have always been supportive of her and have shown us the beauty of adoption. Family is the work and the love you give another. We have been looking forward to expanding our family for a long time. We are excited and ready to become mothers. We recognize our privilege and appreciate the opportunity to have growing careers, a strong bond between us, and financial stability to grow our family. We are ready to unconditionally love our children and watch them grow to be who they want to be.
