Family Type: Gay Couple
State We live in: Iowa

dear expectant mother

We can’t begin to thank you enough for taking a few minutes to read through our profile. This may be one of the biggest decisions you’ll ever make. As you work to choose a family for your baby, we appreciate your consideration. Ever since we began dating, we have always wanted to start a family. We have great jobs, a great home, family nearby, and, most importantly, a loving and strong relationship that will be a solid foundation for a happy home.

Chris’s late grandmother had a saying: “You’re always welcome at Grandma’s house.” It didn’t matter if you’d had a bad day, if it was just you, or if you had a bunch of friends along; you were always welcome, and she was happy to see you. That is the type of home we do our best to have and that your baby will be raised in: unconditional love and acceptance through good times and tough times, happy times and sad times. Your baby will have incredible opportunities—going to the best schools, traveling, exploring whatever interests they have—and they’ll get two sets of grandparents nearby!

This has to be a difficult decision for you. We aren’t perfect—nobody is—but what we promise is that we will do our best to provide the very best life for your baby: a life full of happiness, laughter, exploring new things, and support to grow into the people they are meant to be. We look forward to meeting you and your baby soon!

We have great jobs, a great home, family nearby, and, most importantly, a loving and strong relationship that will be a solid foundation for a happy home.

About Us

We are opposites in so many ways, but somehow it’s those differences that have made our relationship and life work. Ben ensures budgets are balanced and plans are made, and Chris is the cheerleader making sure everyone knows they are loved and supported and everyone has fun! Despite our differences, we connected early on in our relationship on the importance of family and the desire to start our own. We’ve had a pretty fun life and are excited to continue that with the addition of one more. Ben works as a director with a small company helping run operations and insights. Chris works as a director of marketing, helping coach and lead a group of professionals. While not at work, we enjoy traveling, spending time with friends, walking our dogs, and trying new restaurants.

Our Home & Pets

Our home is a two-story house with four bedrooms upstairs and enough bathrooms no one ever needs to wait! A big kitchen, family room, and covered patio help make sure we spend time together. Our house is on the corner of our subdivision in a neighborhood with multiple parks, walking trails, and wild prairies and located in one of the top five school districts in the entire state of Iowa. This is a phenomenal neighborhood and home to grow up in. We have two dogs, both shiba inus. Kyo has been a member of our family for 12 years; he cuddles up next to our niece and our friends’ children. Kimi has been with us for 10 years. Born without the iconic shiba tail, she makes up for it with love and affection.

Our Extended Family

We are incredibly fortunate our families live nearby. Ben’s father passed away when he was in high school, and his mother lives with us (built-in grandma!). His brother lives two hours away in their hometown. Ben’s grandmother just recently moved minutes away from our home. Ben’s brother has a daughter we get to spend a bunch of time with, and we have gotten good at spoiling her as the fun uncles.

Chris’s parents and two brothers live in the same city as we do. While both sides of the family have multiple aunts, uncles, and cousins, we spend the most time with a couple of our aunts as well as our parents and brothers. If you were to ask Chris who his best friends are, he’ll tell you his brothers.

Holidays are a big part of family traditions, primarily Thanksgiving and Christmas. More recently, we have begun getting together on as many Sunday evenings as possible to connect on a regular basis.

What Led Us To Adoption

We’ve always known we’d adopt children. Ben has six cousins who are adopted as well as four coworkers who have chosen adoption to build their families, so it’s been common in his family and friend groups. We’ve chosen this path over surrogacy because we firmly believe a child doesn’t need to have our genetics to be loved completely by us and our families.
