dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We would like to start by saying thank you for taking the time to get to know us and for considering us to become parents to your child. We know this is a difficult time for you, and we can only imagine the decisions you are faced with. We are here to support you at any level you are comfortable with and want you to know we admire your courage and strength along with the love you have for your child. We are ready and excited to embark on the journey of motherhood and raise your baby with unconditional love and compassion. We have dreamed of having a family for some time now, and it could finally become a reality with your selfless act of love.

As an interracial couple, we understand how important culture is, and we plan to raise your baby by incorporating their culture into our lives. We promise to raise your child with love, respect, and encouragement to be themselves and to make a positive impact on our world. We want your baby to grow up knowing they can be curious, try new experiences, and make mistakes while knowing we will be there for them no matter what. We want your baby to feel safe and loved and to experience laughter, education, travel, and anything else they want to do.

Thank you for taking the time to consider us as adoptive parents. Our entire family is ready to share our love and lives with your baby.

With love,
Bintal & Josephine

About Us

We met through a dating app in 2018, right after Jo had started working as a physical therapist and Bintal had finished her master’s degree in library science. Almost two years after we met, we were planning our wedding, but then COVID happened. We ended up getting married over Zoom in the backyard, with Jo’s father marrying us. It was perfect and exactly what we didn’t know we wanted. We were able to then buy a house with a big yard where we can tend to our garden and let our two rescue dogs run around and play. Our dogs are Kiki and Scruffers, two Pomeranian-Chihuahua rescues who were found together and are biological siblings. In our spare time, we love spending time together at home working on the garden or finding something to DIY around the house. We love traveling together, spending time with family, playing with our dogs, going to baseball games, and going to Disneyland.

Our Home & Pets

We absolutely love where we live. We live in a great neighborhood where we know most of our neighbors. Everyone is super friendly and always waving when we walk by with our two adorable dogs, Kiki and Scruffers. There are also a lot of young kids in the neighborhood for your child to befriend and play with. Our neighborhood schools are great. The elementary school is a dual immersion school (English/Spanish), and we believe that living in California, it is so important to be bilingual. The middle school nearby has a focus on art, and we also believe it is very important for creativity to flourish. There are parks around us with soccer and baseball fields as well as playgrounds and walking paths. We also have a nice-sized backyard where a swingset could go in the future.

Our Extended Family

When we bought our house, we specifically chose a location exactly between each of our parents, thirty minutes away from us. Jo has aunts, uncles, and cousins who live about 45 minutes from our house, and Bintal’s sister and her family live about 40 minutes from our house so we are able to easily get together and spend time together.

Bintal was born in London and still has family we like to visit in England. We try to see our families multiple times a month by going out to lunch, having family over for BBQs, and going to the aquarium or art museums. We also love to celebrate Halloween and Christmas together. We try to rotate visiting each other at different houses for each holiday. Jo’s family has many traditions, such as “cookie day” during the holidays as well as Jo’s parents’ “Reindeer Games” dinner. Bintal’s family has us over to celebrate birthdays and Mother’s and Father’s Day or to just spend time together. Ever since we got married, both families get together for Thanksgiving.

What Led Us To Adoption

We always knew we wanted to raise a child together, but we knew we wanted to give a loving home to an existing child. We want to give a child all the opportunities we had as children and even more. It may sound cliché, but children are our future and we want to be able to raise someone to have a positive impact on the world. The world needs more love in it, and we are ready to give all our love to your baby.
