dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

We don’t even know you yet, but we admire your strength, determination, and selflessness. We know what you are going through may be difficult and challenging at times. We want you to know we are thinking of you and the hard decisions that lie ahead. You are an amazing person, and we admire you so much.

We have always dreamed of being parents, and you are the person who can make our hopes and dreams become a reality. If you choose us, we promise to give our future child the best life they can have. We promise to be loving, nurturing, kind, compassionate, supportive, and adventurous. We promise to express love, communicate, set limits, teach respect and responsibility as well as life values, be good role models, provide new experiences, and show gratefulness each and every day.

We can’t wait to show our children what we enjoy most about life and introduce them to the people who mean the most to us. We can't wait to get to know you better if you choose to make an adoption plan with us.

About Us

We met in Chicago in 2009 and knew we had found someone special. We had our first official date two days later, moved in together six months after that, and then married in 2015 surrounded by our family and friends. We had an instant connection and spent hours talking that night…about our relationships with our families and friends, long-term goals, interests, and hobbies; we both knew we had found “the one.” We’ve been together for 14 years and have grown as a couple in many ways and have experienced many life events together. We got married, bought a house we renovated ourselves and sold, moved to a new area of the country to be closer to family, and bought our dream home we've remodeled to prepare for our expanding family. Going through all of these life events has brought us closer, helped us see the bigger picture more clearly, and strengthened us as a couple.

Our Home & Pets

We bought and renovated our home with a family in mind. We can imagine making dinner together in the kitchen, playing games in the living room, playing on a swing set in the backyard, walking a block to the park, decorating our Christmas tree, and tucking our child into bed after reading a story each night. We live in a very diverse neighborhood with people of different races and cultural backgrounds, and we enjoy socializing within our community. We have minimal traffic and very quiet streets. Another member of our family is Etta, a two-year-old beagle mix we rescued. She is very sweet and LOVES kids. Her favorite activity is playing fetch with our little cousins and is our three-year-old godson's best friend.

Our Extended Family

We both come from amazing families, and we are very close with all of them. Together we have four siblings (and four sibling in-laws), five nephews, two nieces, grandparents, and many aunts, uncles, and cousins. We spend a lot of time together, especially around the holidays and special events. We look forward to bringing another child into our family so they can be loved, cared for, and spoiled by everyone who is a part of our lives.

We both grew up in the Midwest and have similar upbringings. We spent all major holidays together with our extended families, enjoyed camping every summer with our cousins, and had very close relationships with our grandparents, aunts, uncles, and many cousins. We both consider our moms our best friends (after each other) and can’t wait for them to meet their next grandbaby.

We also have experience with adoption through our extended family as well as our close friends, so we have an amazing support network of parents who have adopted as well as kids (now adults) who have been adopted who will help us along the way.

What Led Us To Adoption

From the very start of our relationship, we quickly knew we both wanted kids to be part of the picture. We have so enjoyed being godfathers and uncles, but without a child, we know something is missing from our lives. Being Dad and Daddy has always been something we wanted for our future and something we have always talked about; we just weren’t exactly sure how it would come about. We’ve thought about various options such as surrogacy, but we felt adoption is the best choice for us. To us, being parents has nothing to do with being biological parents.
