dear expectant mother

Dear Expectant Mother,

First of all, thank you for taking some time to consider us as parents for your baby. We want you to know that we see you, we value you, and we honor you during this most difficult time. We know we cannot fully understand the gravity of the decisions you’re facing, but we would cherish an opportunity to work together with you to create a family.

For us, the most important thing we can offer is love—for you, for your child, and for the relationships that we would form if you choose us to journey alongside you. We are open-minded and willing to have an open adoption, whatever that looks like for you. We want to create something together that will be the most beneficial for your child.

We want to create something together that will be the most beneficial for your child.

About Us

Brady is warm, caring, kind and loves math. David is bubbly, spontaneous, and always on the lookout for something fun to do. It always surprises Brady, but David seems to know someone everywhere we go, and if he doesn’t, he soon makes new friends. Brady works as a financial analyst for a large car company, where he loves helping people understand financial data to make decisions. David works at a non-profit focused on drug abuse rehabilitation for mothers who are pregnant or who have newborn children, where his organizational skills really shine. Brady loves reading, playing board games, and baking sourdough bread. David loves video games, board games, jigsaw puzzles, and Ultimate Frisbee. David is also a huge advocate for mental health and dedicates much of his free time to advocacy for de-stigmatization and raising awareness about mental health challenges. We enjoy daily walks, cooking together, and spending time with friends and family.

Our Home

We live near a prominent college in a town that values outdoor activities and learning. The school districts are diverse and of reputable quality. While walking in our neighborhood, we greet people of many races and backgrounds as well as the turtles that live in the pond nearby. We are very close to many cultural attractions, museums, zoos, and amusement parks as well as numerous local and state parks. We go walking or hiking as often as we can. We live in a three-bedroom, two-story home with a big backyard and plenty of space to play.

Our Extended Family

Brady is the oldest of eight, and David is the second of seven kids. Our parents also have lots of siblings, so we have more cousins than we can keep track of. We currently have 33 nieces and nephews, and we know and dote on every single one. We love sending them birthday cards and finding each of them the perfect book every year for Christmas.

David and his brothers have a night set aside each week to play video games together, and his family has a weekly video call where everyone checks in to see how things are going. Brady is regularly texting and calling his family, maybe planning their next visit or maybe just catching up. We’re both very close with our families, and we think a child would be a welcome addition to this mix, with ample love to go around.

Holidays with our families are never a quiet thing, as you can imagine! Brady’s family enjoys camping in the mountains for vacation, and they try to all get together every few years. Both families like to get together for Thanksgiving or Christmas whenever possible. David especially has fond memories of sleepovers with his siblings on Christmas Eve and then opening presents Christmas morning with everyone gathered around.

Our Adoption Story

Both of us have dreamed of being dads, and our marriage has only strengthened that desire. We’re both from large, traditional, family-oriented homes. We’re thick as thieves with our siblings and have nothing but love and affection for our many nieces and nephews. David has two adopted sisters, one from Russia and one from Ukraine. That doesn’t come up much, though, because they’re considered full members of his family unit and are loved and included just as much as the biological siblings. Our age, employment stability, and strong support systems of friends and family make this the ideal time for us to adopt. We successfully adopted a son in 2021 and were unprepared for the depths of love and joy we would have for him. He is the cutest little guy, counting to ten and learning his ABCs. We maintain an open, ongoing relationship with his birth mom and grandma and try to arrange visits regularly. Another child coming into our home would receive ample love from many people beyond just the three of us.
