dear expectant mother

We hope this message finds you safe, healthy, and in good spirits. We’re so grateful you’re considering us as adoptive parents. We know we can never truly understand how you feel right now, but we’re committed to working with you to make sure this child never has a need unmet. We promise to honor your gift by making sure they’re loved and provided for every single day of their life.

We’re both lucky to come from families that provide unmatched love and support. Our upbringings, education, and experiences have taught us to be confident, respectful, and thoughtful people. We look forward to providing the same opportunities to this child. They will grow up in a safe and nurturing home and live a full and happy life where they can achieve their dreams.

We’ve been looking forward to expanding our family for a long time now. We have the resources, support network, and knowledge to provide for a child. We’re confident we’ll be great parents, and we’re ready for the highs and lows that come with raising a child.

Again, thank you for considering us as prospective parents. We’re looking forward to meeting you and getting to know your dreams and aspirations as we begin this parenting journey with you.

We promise to honor your gift by making sure they’re loved and provided for every single day of their life.

About Us

We met for the first time over coffee one morning. We fell in love quickly and married two years later. We still go back to the same coffee shop every year on our anniversary. Brent is originally from New Orleans, and Brandon is from western North Carolina. Even though we grew up in different places, our families are remarkably similar. We have a lot in common. We both love reading, cooking dinner for our friends, walking our two dogs, and traveling inside and outside the U.S. From a young age, we were both very creative. Brent became a writer and taught at a university for many years. He’s now a marketing professional for a tech company. Brandon became an artist and is now the development officer for a nonprofit that provides free music instruction to kids.

Our Home & Pets

Our home is comfortable and warm. Our two dogs, O’Maly and Ellis, are always happy to greet visitors at the door. There is plenty of space for a child to have their own room and for us to be together as a family. We live in the heart of our city. If you look out our window, you’ll see the state capitol to the right and the performing arts center to the left. We can walk outside and have so many opportunities to play and learn. Within just a few blocks, there are parks, playgrounds, museums, and libraries. We’re also lucky to live in one of the nation’s top school districts with great options for pre-K through high school within just a few miles.

Our Extended Family

We both come from large and loving families. Both sets of parents have been married for more than forty years, and, coincidentally, they have the same wedding anniversary. They were married in the same year on the exact same day.

Brandon's family is nearby, with parents, three siblings, nieces and nephews, and many cousins. Brent's family spans three generations, all living along the Gulf Coast. His family includes his parents, an amazing grandmother, one sibling with four children, and lots of cousins. His family is Cajun, and his grandmother makes the best food you’ll ever eat. Along with birthdays and family vacations, we travel each year to New Orleans to spend Thanksgiving with Brent’s family. It's always a big and fun gathering with lots of laughter. We spend Christmas with Brandon’s family in North Carolina. There’s always a big tree and lots of Christmas presents.

Along with our biological families, we have a circle of close friends who feel like family. Some of our friends live nearby, and others live around the world. We love visiting each other and making dinner together.

What Led Us To Adoption

We’ve wanted to expand our family for more than seven years. We have so much love for each other and have a strong community of friends and family around us. We’re ready to welcome a child into our family and surround them with the love, support, and resources they need to succeed in life. Being a same-sex couple means we have a few options for how to expand our family. But adoption has always felt like the right path for us. We have many friends whose lives have been touched by adoption. Whether through creating an adoption plan, growing up in an adoptive family, or becoming adoptive parents, we’ve seen how adoption changes lives for the better.
